honestly if you stop to think about it for just a few seconds, you realize that an LP is an arbitrary sort of package by which artists have released music. we have all come to expect bands to release new material in batches simply because it's an efficient way for labels to distribute material; it's been going on for over half a century now.

as with any other sort of "paradigm shift" (i hate the term, but it's appropriate here) all you have to do is change the way you think about commercialized music - or better yet, simply forget what you think you know about it - and it's easy to envision a world where artists thrive on a steady stream of EPs or single releases.

think of all the amazing radiohead songs out there that have been relegated to the b-side bin, never making the cut for an album release. some of my favorite stuff comes from that collection, yet sadly many more new or casual fans are completely unaware that it exists. those songs would have all been released on even ground with everything else had the band not been under the influence of an obsolete publication scheme.

Selway solo album. Sweet!

And let them do what they need to. Album or no album I'm still satisfied with all of their previous work.
