Last month during their Bonnaroo performance, Thom Yorke dropped a hint that suggested that the band were doing something with Jack White at his Third Man Records studio in Nashville. Today we get confirmation from White saying that the band have been recording at his studio, but insists that he is not part of the sessions. “I don’t know how much to tell about it,” he told BBC 6 Music. “I didn’t play with them or produce but they came in and recorded at Third Man. I don’t know what else to be said about that, so that’s all I can probably say.”

What does this all mean? Is Radiohead recording a new album? Maybe just an EP? If Jack White isn’t involved, is it safe to assume the band is working with longtime producer Nigel Godrich? These are questions we hope to have answers to very soon. Stay tuned…

I think they’ve been recording a new album during the course of the year –  I reckon they’ve been in the studio during the gaps between tour legs. I seem to remember they went into the studio around January and February; and as far as I know, no studio-recorded songs came out of that.

I’m probably wrong, but I hope I’m right.

i’m actually more curious about the pending “atoms for peace” album–although the lousy (quality) videos that were released of yorke and godrich DJing didn’t give me much hope for the album…but who knows?  it sounds like the recording process was very very quick–a matter of days–and now they’re just playing with what they have…..any idea (or clues) on when that might be released?

Funny how it was a “normal” musical group White would probably have said “oh yeah, they did this and that, this one sounded interesting” but with Radiohead it’s “oh I probably shouldn’t say.. I don’t know what I can say. I haven’t filed a feedom of information act on that session, sorry!” I love Radiohead’s work but they’re no longer fun to follow. They’re good for material only. Maybe that’s their point.
