Recently, a group
of regulars of the official Radiohead message board started a campaign
to get MTV USA's very popular request show, Total Request Live, to
play the much-loved video for Radiohead's "Just".
For those who don't know how Total Request Live, or TRL, works, it's
simple. Viewers can either call 1-800-DIAL-MTV and place a
vote or access MTV's webpage and vote. MTV has a bunch of popular
videos listed, or you can go to the bottom of the page and enter in
an artist and video not listed.
The plan is to try to get the video aired on the May 11, 2000
show. The show begins at 3:30 p.m. (ET). Only the top ten requested
videos will be aired. You can start voting after the May 10 show is
finished.
Why do we want "Just" on TRL? Many people have different
reasons of wanting it. Mainly we're just (no pun intended) tired of
seeing the same stupid videos played each day. You would never expect
to see Radiohead on that show.
It will be next to impossible to accomplish this task. Many attempts
by other fans in the past to get their favorite artist's videos on
failed. We can try. It also helps to get media attention by spin.com,
who put out a story on May 9 about this campaign.
In a nutshell, here's what you need to do:
First, go to MTV.com and select "TRL"
from the list of shows. Alternatively, you can click this link,
which will take you directly there.
From the TRL page, click the "play my song" link. You'll
notice a bunch of videos that you can select. Skip that and scroll
down to the bottom where it let's you type in an artist and video.
Let's see if we can show people how a real video is done! |
