This songs spliced opening lyrics and most dominint phrase, " everything
in its right place" suggest a false sense of security, with incredible
bliss but tints of doubt. I also get a feeling its a song about
the band, how they have come this far, and truly have succeded to
be one of the best bands in the world. Of course i'm sure this is
not what they meant it to mean, they would never be so boastful.
They say that they are a rock band writing pop songs sometimes,
but this and the whole album its on is experimental artistic music.
By the end of the song i feel incredibly content and almost sudated.

It's the opening track to an album about idea's expressed in the matrix(or
so ive read) Anyway, it is the opening. everything is happy, perfect
(in it's right place. But everything changed and became un pleasant.
he woke up in a 'sour' mood (yesterday i woke up sucking on a lemon)
it reminds me of the book 'the giver' in that he expresses that all
he sees are 2 colors(black and white)and when told that there is more,
he can't comprehend(what is that you tried to said) |

After repeated listenings to the entire album of Kid A, and having
heard the rumors of a theme through the album, I did begin to see
a story developing. The story that I got out of Kid A (the first human
clone), could begin either with Everything In It's Right Place, or
with MPS. In Everything In It's Right Place, the entire Thom is singing
about the making of the first human clone, about how every little
piece of DNA, every little cell, absolutely everything must be in
it's right place. When it is, the clone is born, and (as babies often
due) looks as if he/she has waken up sucking on a lemon. The following
lyrics seem to be complete gibberish, and that's basically what they
are. It's the ramblings of an infant mind, too young to understand
language. As the album progresses so does the story, but as for Everything,
this is what I believe it's about. |
