I thought that I would offer my opinion on this song cause nobody
else has.i think this song has to do with Thom trying to deal with
a girl that is going away for awhile.he wants to believe in her.BADLY.but
he cant
"Please
forget the words that I just blurted out,
it wasn't me, it was my strange and creeping doubt"
I
think this has to do with Thom telling his lover to forget words
that he just said.maybe words that would point towards her leaving
him in one way or other. That would be his doubt. He doesnt know whether
or not she'll love him through the long haul.
"it
keeps rattling my cage.
And there's nothing in this world will keep it down
and even though I might, even though I try, I can't.
Even though I might, even though I try, I can't"
Hes
saying that he just cant deal with her going away and being away
from him.He wants to trust her.he might be able to.But in the long
run he cant.
"Soon
your things that keep, that keep me underground,
so many words that I, that I can never find.
If you give up on me now,
I'll be gutted like I've never been before"
He
says if she leaves him hell be gutted like hes never been before. But
he himself knows that the relationship will not work.He just wants
to abandon it before she can.He also feels inferior to her.like
he'll never be at her level. That is a concept that is portrayed
all through Pablo Honey.Feeling inferior to a lover.
