this
song can either just be straight-forward, simple and sarcastic(in
a sence), in which case the meaning of the song is obvious. but
if this song has a deeper meaning, then i believe the song is about
the self-destruction of social society.

Killer Cars is a song about the uncertainty of life and being afraid
of death. Killer cars are metaphoric for anything that can kill you.
Life is a bunch of chances and everyday we put our lives on the line.
It's also about the fear of not telling someone how you feel about
them before you or they die when the song says-"all those things I
forgot to say" This song really has deep meaning for me since recently
I lost two relatives in a car accident. |

I can't take this song at face value. It's not about bad drivers!!
Well, at least, I don't think so, unless Thom et al has done a complete
turnaround and gone literal for once.... and i doubt that greatly.
I think the main idea behind the song is the fear when you leave someone,
or go away or just leave a restaurant or theatre or pub to go home
and you leave someone behind - the fear that creeps in slowly but
assuredly, of whether something will happen, whether they'll meet
someone new, change their minds, find skeletons in the cupboard; or
worse - whether something will happen to you: whether you'll meet
someone, or be stripped from the "packed foam" that you're comfortable
with, the ignorantly blissful stupor of being "blind drunk". Maybe
a question of how much you trust yourself, or how in touch you are
with how you're feeling at that particular time: whether crashing
would wake you up.
Overall, it's that horrible feeling of the esprit d'escalier - the
things you didn't say when you had the chance to, or remembered to
say a moment too late. |

Well. It's that simple: our life might end driving to the supermarket.
Don't ever avoid telling someone that you love him/her. But, who can
do that? We would be just saying "i love you"... (perhaps it's better
just to think it)
whatever that it is up there knows anyway... |
