lewis (mistreated)

By Joe

Another of my favorites. This song seems to be about a friend who gets frustrated with life and kills himself. I think most of the song is Thom pleading with his friend not to kill himself (Don't do it, don't jump) but in the end he does. When he does, Thom repeats, I don't want to talk about it....I don't want to talk about Lewis. Thom describes how his friend wasn't noticed (We never noticed, we never understood) or how his friend was abused (he just get crushed to fit).

Thom does say tell how he just doens't notice the good around him (never even smelt out the best day of your life). My favorite line in the song is, the smell of fear is thicker then you think. This could mean a lot of things. To me it means how the world is a lot scary for some people then others realize.
