This is a very simple song, and although has never been popular, gives a very realistic parental view. Thom plays the part of a loving parent reassuring their son that they will look after him, and nothing will go wrong ("you won't come to harm").

"death to all who stand in your way" This line is the parents explaining that nobody will stop him from succeeding ("we just know that you'll do well")

Although this song was disliked by many fans due to it's simplicity, it's reassuring nature shows again Thom's talent to take on many a role and perspective in his songs.
