I'm a 42-year old concert junkie. I have been to hundreds of shows in my lifetime, but my attendance in the past decade has waned (mostly because of kids, job, etc. but partly because I feel there just hasn't been a large selection of inspired music out there). I have collected all of Radiohead's albums during this time period, but only in the past year or so have I truly immersed myself in it. I mentioned to my closest friend recently that this is the one band I wanted to experience in a live setting. My wish came true... the tickets for tonight's show were more than worth the struggle to get them! The show was rich, intense, beautiful; the new songs were great; opening the first encore with Fake Plastic Trees was a treat; the sound at the Greek was crisp and clear; and the fog rolling in enhanced the mood. One of the best shows I have ever seen/heard. A great experience.Thankfully, there are bands like Radiohead who are refreshingly unique with their studio productions, AND deliver a fantastic live performance as well.

well tonight had many more "hits" than last night but the songs tonight were played more intense than i have probably ever seen them. the weather was good again nice and cool and the greek theater is the greatest outdoor venue in the bay area. thanks to the band for picking the greek. the setlist was amazing and all i need sounded great. the real treat was the true love waits intro into e.i.i.r.p...was ed on the phone during that song? whatever he was doing it looked cool. at the end of climbing up the walls thom was singing into the pickups on his acoustic. somehow some douche got on stage during the first song of the second encore but it looked like he got what was comeng to him. all in all a better show than last night and have no fear they are still the greatest band in the world, johnny's solos were soul rocking during paranoid and fake plastic trees and black star was another surprise. thank you for two great shows!!

Holy CRAP! What an amazing show. I was one of the few that actually liked the Opening band Deerhoof, which was a great kicker for me. Then the show started. OH MY GOD. I think anyone who hasn't heard 2+2=5 Live is not living life to the fullest. The energy was great, the songs were amazing, and it just flowed great. I could feel the Radiohead love. A few technical things, but nothing that really mattered or took away from the show. This was my first Radiohead concert ever, and it was an amazing experience. Singing along with Thom is really something special.

The energy when they did Black Star was awesome, people were singing along and just crazy.

Seriously, I just can't say enough how good this show was

Great show!!

Airbag...what a way to start the show.

Plenty of variety with new stuff and it was nice to see some action from the bends and ok computer.

I was thrilled to hear my favorite -- Paranoid Android.

Interesting version of True Love Waits leading into EIIRP in the first encore.

The band played really well and seemed pretty happy to be there. Thom and Ed were closest to where I was standing and really seemed to be enjoying the crowd.

Thom reprimanded some people in the pit for getting too rowdy. There was a stage dive towards the end. And someone tossed something up to Thom and he caught it. I was pretty close but I couldn't tell what it was.

I know there will be some good pics floating around out there.

it's hard to write anything about the show tonight, i'm really speechless. the sound was amazing tonight and the set was just about everything they missed last night. blackstar was very refreshing. i hadn't heard it on the tour until tonight. very smooth list of songs... paranoid android, fake plastic trees, kid a, gloaming, dollars & cents everything just seemed to flow so well tonight they worked in some "sketchy" songs which all sound flawless and perfected already. it is very interesting to hear the variations in the beat that has been tweaked and adjusted in just about every version of 15 step. how to disappear was chilling and very surreal, johnny's intro is always beautiful.

at the second night in chicago right before they broke into everything in it's right place i could have sworn i heard the intro to true love waits... for a second i thought it couldn't be but tonights true love waits was just incredible.

tell ed that they opened with airbag night 2 chicago and ended with the tourist as well, tonight wasn't the first night to open with the first song from okc and last song from okc but they sure sounded better tonight.

Excellent show. In a perfect world, they would skip tracks from Amnesiac and limit the new stuff (but that's just me)... and throw away the goddam piano, I want to see guitars!

That being said, this show was sooo much better than Friday's.. think the pit was a bit more active tonight because of the songs. Can't wait til they come around again!

Best song of the night was Paranoid Android (IMO)... the crowd listned, then jumped around, and then swayed. Awesome!

This show was simply amazing. It seemed (to me anyways) that Radiohead was playing all the right shows at all the right time. I think this show was augmented by the fact that while I walking to the Greek Theatre me and my friend saw Jonny and Phil walking through the campus as well. Definently an amazing show. Amazing opener. Amazing new songs. Amazing ender. Double encore goodness. Highlights included Down is the New Up, Fake Plastic Trees and the True Love Waits/Everything in its Right Place combo.
Amazing.

first and foremost, what a glorious performance it was. I had flown in all the way from Texas just to hear Radiohead and I knew they wouldn't disappoint. The opening was performed with so much energy, that the crowd began moving in swirls, and just when you thought you were gonna fall, the song would be there to pick you right back up. Being a fan of Radiohead since I was twelve, it was truly special for me because I was able to enjoy that performance with my brother and my best friend. I was extremely pleased that they plaed paranoid android and the tourist was the perfect ending to such a great concert. The true highlight for me was getting to hear theie new material like 15 step and specifically Arpeggi. Thom and the others looked very pleased with this gig and they played their hearts out. Their concert was perfect for me so there is really nothing I could add more to this.

SO worth the effort of getting the tickets..... Dollars And Cents, Myxomatosis and that great version of True Love Waits bringing Everything In Its Right Place on was amazing!! I loved Thom Yorke's sort of Elvis Costello move making the band stop, fixing what was wrong and then moving on..... I also liked Deerhoof and felt they did a good job.... I cannot imagine what it must have been like for them opening for Radiohead, but they played a great, energetic set warming us up for the reason we all were there.

It was my third time seeing Radiohead live, but my first time hearing Fake Plastic Trees which they played as if they understood how songs like that make fans like us feel, which hearing it done so well BY RADIOHEAD nearly brought me to tears.... & on a final note before I forget..... Where I End And You Begin is one of my favorites from Hail to the Thief and WOW did it sound GREAT!!

The sound was stellar.
Not too familiar with their songs, and it was my first Radiohead show, but the they make that venue sound like it has great acoustics. Been to many Greek shows in the past.
Thw new songs (most) are nice. Rich percussion throughout the set. Really makes the show go by quickly for me.
I guess the way they play multiple instruments, sounds, keeps things moving too. The guy on the right plays those digital boxes, and cool keys.
The camera angles for the visuals were unique and right on. Great production all around.
They enjoy performing and appeared gracious in acknowledging the crowd. Pretty relaxed, comfortable with the whole thing.
Very warm reception from the crowd.
Nice night.

What a way to spend a weekend. Two nights in a row filled with one of the greatest bands of the 20th century. Last night was my tenth time seeing Radiohead and I can't say which show is the best due to personal experiences at each show. The best comparison I can make is this. Radiohead's music is like an athlete in the prime of their career. They control the stage(field) with great confidence, hit every note(score every goal or point), and take each member of the audience on a journey like no other. You witness Radiohead and you witness greatness! I love the blend of old tunes with the new. It's rare that you go to a two hour show these days and Radiohead puts everything they have in those two hours. The crowd was more crazed the second night and I was surprised to see what resembled a pit. Thom put an end to that quickly by speaking to the suddenly moved crowd. The two shows and every show Radiohead peforms is an experience all it's own. If you have not seen them, do so! Do it soon and do it often!

Wow! Simply splendid. These guys are even better live. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I couldn't have asked for anything else. The setlist was great, but whatever they chose to play would have been great for me. The energy was absolutely wild for the duration of the concert. I can't wait for the new album to be released. And I hope that it wont be the last. Especially considering that they are the only band that I listen to that are still playing.

Of course the show was amazing, perhaps even a little more so than the night before.

I just wanted to clarify the rendition of True Love Waits for those that were unable to attend the show. It was not the acoustic guitar version heard on "I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings". This version featured ambient piano in the key of Everything in its Right Place. Colin looked surpised and confused as Thom played and sang. Jonny sat nearby with the effects pedal and added to the performance. It wasn't just a short intro though, it lasted a few minutes on its own, and Thom did sing the verses and chorus of the song. The band looked very pleased with how it came out, and when it flowed seemlessly into Everything in its Right Place, the crowd went nuts. Very special to see, I hope it can be viewed by all somehow.

Saturday night at the Greek was my 3rd Radiohead show, and I was absolutely amazed at the energy level. The band delivered such a good performance, and there were so many well played songs... As I stood in line with my sister, I had told her how much I hoped to hear some stuff off OKComp. and even asked for Airbag to open. I was granted this sweet wish, and lots of new goodies as well.
I was intregued at the deep beats that the band was working with, it was an exploration I did not expect from the band, but was pleasantly suprised to see. I noticed that they followed new material with
an old goodie, deliberatly contextualizing the new songs in a body of influences/work. I cant wait for the new album, (or a copy of the show if someone taped it)...I definatly think it will take the music in another dynamic direction. Thom mentioned that it is still in progress, some of it still needing work...I await for the band to be satisfied enough to get it out there.
I do have to admit how devastated I was to have Thom tease a few opening notes of Pyramid Song, and then never come back to it, but I guess all the other goodness will have to do (and it does).
Another note...a fan ran up on stage to be tackled and pulled off by security...the band didnt even miss a beat.
I felt like the band was having a good time as well, and really seemed to be feeding on the energy of the crowd. It was funny to have the band tease to have to "come play at someones house " if we wanted to hear more songs. Did I mention I have a big place? Anyway, always a treat.

First time at the Greek and it didn't disappoint. We were stuck up on the grass, but the view and sound were still perfect. I had chills from the moment Airbag started until the end of the Tourist. Full body chills ran from my head to my feet during moments of Paranoid Andriod. One word can describe the band's performance on Saturday night: TIGHT

Although I very much enjoyed this show, I don't really see why people are calling it "a religious experience" and such. Yes, Radiohead are good (they are quite good, in fact) but the show was still lacking in some things. A bit more band/crowd interaction from Thom would have been nice, and there were a few songs I wish they had played (Pyramid Song, Knives Out, Optimistic, Wolf at the Door) in place of some of the things they chose (Dollars and Cents, Kid A, No Surprises), but overall it was still a very good show. Good atmosphere, good lighting/effects, and the band were on top form. Also, they played my favorite song of all time, Climbing up the Walls. In any case, great show, just not a religious experience.

This was my fifth Radiohead show... I've had the "religious experience" before, first night of Madison Square Garden in New York a few years ago. This was an interesting show. I definitely prefer songs from Kid A/ Amnesiac and recent, so I wasn't so into the heavy emphasis on stuff from OK Computer and The Bends. Much of the songs were so tight and amazing that it would be difficult to describe... Myxamatosis, Kid A, and How to Disappear Completely brought me to tears...

Unfortunately, the audience was unbelievably rude, although enthusiastic. People were having entire conversations during the quiet moments or songs they didn't like as much, nearly constant heat-lightning from people taking photos on their camera phones, an extremely drunk, senile, obnoxious crowd, at least where I was standing. I felt like the band was a little weirded about by it all, especially after the one guy climbed up on stage and took a flying leap at Thom. (Second time I've seen that happen... also happened Oct 2003 in MSG.)

Americans, please learn how to experience something amazing first-hand! What could you possibly have to say while the band is playing that's more important than the music?

All in all, an intense, great, but weird show, a couple rough songs ("some of these new songs are sketchy... some are very sketchy" said Thom on stage, which was funny). And the Greek Theatre is lovely.

The guys seemed really relaxed and happy. Thom was pretty much all smiles except during the second encore when he had to very illustratively motion for the vox in his monitors to be lowered. The new material went off really well, even though Thom described some of it as sketchy, and some of it as very sketchy. The sound overall was absolutely amazing. The P.A that was used at the Greek really did the guys justice. It was very clear and not too loud. I was right up front, very satified with the how big the sound was, and left without ringing ears. There was one instance when Johnny was using a phaser and its bottom end took away a lot of headroom, but the situation was quickly remedied. They looked like they were having a good time. These guys enjoy their jobs.

Also, Deerhoof was a very interesting opening band. Great drummer.

First time seeing Radiohead live... I assumed it would be a great show, but didn't expect it to be the best/one of the best shows I've ever seen.

The sound was crisp and almost perfectly mixed. Rarely have I experienced that good of sound at a venue of such size. To make things even better, the band played every note to precision. With Radiohead's music being as heavily nuanced as it is on their albums, it was no doubt impressive to see them pull it off as flawlessly as they did live.

The band played with great ease and confidence, and were very warm with the audience. Highlights included opening with Airbag, 15 Step (this is an incredible song- excellent live), Paranoid Android, True Love Waits --> Everything, Fake Plastic Trees, Blackstar, and double encore ending with The Tourist.

The entire show had me hanging on each note like a thread. Excited for the new album and hope that I'll get to experience Radiohead in concert again someday.

Why is no one mentioning the True Love Waits intro to EIIRP? As far as I'm concerned, that was absolutely "it"... I never expected to be lucky enough to hear that song live, and my jaw dropped to the floor when I recognized the lyrics. The arrangement was very minimalist in comparison to previous versions - virtually no melody except Thom's voice - but somehow that made it all the more endearing. It was intimately beautiful. A real treat to hear.

this was the illest show of all time! seen them before, but this show blew the others out the water. i dont know what to write, coz my brain is still humming...they played mad classics (see setlist above)....but for sure the best song was 'paranoid android' and the most special song was 'true love waits' it was historic. i can't say enough, nor can i really express it correctly now, so i end here. radiohead is bigger than the beatles!

i was blown away.

i said it last night and find it humerous to see it posted here as well: "It was a religious experience."

i saw them up in White Salmon Washington for the HTTT tour, but didn't have the same kind of reaction then.

i can't wait for them to finish up the new album. it sounds like the natural progression for them.

There is almost no reason to see any other band live. My third time and every time I get a new set list, different tempos, and the same dedicated fans that love every minute of these amazing performances. I thought the hills around the Greek were melting into the bay during Climbing up the walls (I couldn't have been the only one), Black Star, Fake Plastic Trees and the Tourist in the encore? Are you kidding me!!! They kill it every time. Nothing beats the Greek theater for a show either, warm afternoon setting into rolling, swirling, fog that just added perfectly to the drama. Get to a show it will change your life!

Another aging concert junkie reporting. I've seen Radiohead six times since 1998, when I scored a scalped third row seat (right in front of Ed: 4-15-98, Worcester Centrum, MA) for a then-hefty $60. That show was a rather transcendental experience for me, but I believe this one topped it.

Some highlights of the show for me:

Airbag -- the opening song both last night and at the Worcester show on the OKC tour, the first time I ever saw them. Fantastic way to start a show, and nostalgic for me.

15 Step -- the news songs are amazing. This one had Ed trying to get the audience to clap along in 5/4. Fun! From Ed's recent interview in New York Magazine: It's nice to have a bit of clapping, a bit of audience participation, if they can get the beat. In Spain, they love "Morning Bell" all the fast clapping is like flamenco music. But in the West, we're not very rhythm-savvy. Anything not in 4/4 is hard for a lot of people.

Nude -- a false start maybe a minute into the song. Thom stops the song, telling the audience, "Don't go anywhere, stay where you are." Laughter from the crowd; a tech swaps out Thom's mic and they begin again. I hadn't heard this one before so it was a real treat.

Paranoid Android -- always wonderful to hear this one live! Being one of thousands singing along to the "rain down" section is a moving experience.

Go Slowly -- Another song I hadn't heard before. "Then we'll do 'Burn The Witch,'" joked Thom. I think it was after this one when he said something to the effect of, "some of the new songs are sketchy; some are very sketchy."

How To Disappear Completely -- absolutely gorgeous intro from Jonny. Very moving performance. I think it was this one (it may have been The Tourist) where the screens overhead switched from displaying an array of band images and animated graphics to just Thom on every screen, underscoring the power of his voice carrying the song.

Encore 1
Arpeggi -- I love how this one has transformed since Thom's and Jonny's performance of it at Ether. Jangly guitars, classic Radiohead, really fleshed out this time.

True Love Waits -- an audible gasp from the crowd when Thom got the the "true love waits" line; having never heard it before, I was one of the clueless about what song it was until that point as well. As a few before me have already noted, an impressive segue immediately into Everything In Its Right Place.

Everything In Its Right Place -- the band dramatically exit the stage one by one, first Thom, leaving Colin and Phil jamming over Ed's and Jonny's sampling. Next Colin and Phil leave, then Jonny, then finally Ed.

Encore 2
The Tourist -- Thom's voice again was perfect -- what a dynamic singer he is. During the second encore, the famous San Francisco fog rolled in from behind the band, creeping over the back of the stage towards the audience: a surreal effect. Thom jokingly said if one of us could invite them over to their home we could continue all evening. Nice dream.

I think I was smiling during the whole performance because I felt so lucky to be there. And while I was really hoping for Like Spinning Plates (which they played on Friday night) and Creep, I was thrilled to hear Airbag, Black Star, No Surprises and The Tourist. All of the new songs were great, too! Radiohead... seriously the most amazing band alive today. They rocked the Greek Theater and it was a fantastic setting for them. Come back to the Bay Area again soon!

I've never been to the Greek in Berkeley..but I must say..I really loved the venue. There was an energy in the audience even before the band came on and this carried over into the show.

Two things stood out to me. First off the new material..was exceptional/ extraordinary and secondly the way they interpret their studio music in person adds so much life to what has become a very electronic affair in studio.

Despite Thom saying the new songs were "sketchy"...I really enjoyed hearing the band develop the music right in front of us. Thom seemed really excited when he showed off the new material..but lost some energy on Black Star. Although I felt Hail to the Thief the album was a step down from the Kid A/ Amnesiac high...hearing this new material has me reenergized for the the bands next album. I for one would love to hear a little more edge/ energy on their studio albums.

I'd seen the band on the OK Computer tour and they are much improved as a live band. They seem very loose but very very under control. A joy to watch. Although Fake Plastic Trees is not my favorite track off of "the Bends"...I felt my eyes welling up as the band performed it. I'm glad they didn't do "Bullet Proof"...Or I would have been crying outright. Am I the only one who gets sad when they hear Thom's voice?

Highlights for me:

Nude
Paranoid Android
No Surprises
All I need
EIIRP-outro
The Tourist

I drove up to see them from LA an paid a pretty penny for the tickets..but if there is one band I wanted to see it's got to be Radiohead.

Thanks to the band and thanks to Green Plastic for their great site. I've been a Lurker for a long time.

Um... best concert I have ever been to. Period.
Even without Just, My Iron Lung, Planet Telex, The Bends, and Talk Show Host, this show was so ^%^&%^ spontaneous, I couldn't wrap my mind around it. How about sampling True Love Waits (On The Fender Rhodes?!?!?) at the beginning of Everything In Its Right Place, and then echoing and scratching it throughout the song? Done. That shit has never been done before to my knowledge. Airbag as an opener = stunning. Paranoid Android was HUGE... Jonny comes strutting out from behind their rear keyboard and hits the wall of noise that precedes "You Don't Remember... YOU don't Remember..." Actually Thom, I will never forget.
Climbing Up The Walls was fascinating, just seeing everyone do their part. When Thom raised up his acoustic for the final yell (which was into the soundhole of the guitar and microphone simultaneously, was wondering how they got that sound!), it was truly haunting. Jonny's guitar work on Nude, albeit a tuning debacle in the first take, was breathtaking. The man was finger picking, and then raking his thumb across all the strings on the way back up for a percussive effect (kind of a more toned down version of the percussive attack late in the live version of Morning Bell).
I really can't sum it up anymore than that. This is the same thrill I felt upon seeing them at the Warfield and Fillmore back in the 90's. Thank GOD they did not play Shoreline in Mountain View!
Ok that's all.
P.S. Here's some pics of the show.
Ever

AndEver

Does anyone have this show in flac or shn? Hit me up if so! Thx.

INTRO
i went to cal and absolutely loved everything about it, probably as much as i love radiohead, so putting the two together was really special. i had a GREAT time.

WAITING IN LINE
...was one of the highlights. i met a really nice guy who was an out of towner and it was just a welcome fan to fan conversation for me 'cause i haven't found too many people to talk about radiohead with. there were two guys i had to break out vigilante justice on for cutting. the second guy a toolus maximus. all i have to say is please do not cut. though it doesn't make a huge difference in the end, its really the principle. all in all though, i met a lot of nice people who simply love and appreciate radiohead and that was very sweet.

THE PIT
...was crowded. :) i was about 30 people in when the concert started and being about 5'2" my lungs were feeling it after a while. contrary to the consensus, i thought deerhoof was a real band with a real aesthetic. i don't know how to explain it except for that i got them. they were cool. and though most were just like "what the f*ck?!" everyone was just really respectful and i was happy about that. people were even doing the motions with the cute japanese chick and it was awesome. though i'm not a "friends" fan, the deerhoof performance brought an episode to mind where the girls are taking a dance class trying to find a woman who stole monica's wallet. rachel is falling perfectly in step with the teacher, being cute and happy; monica is struggling and feeling like a dweeb; phoebe however is doing her own absurd dance and saying "i'm TOTALLY getting it!" i felt like phoebe during deerhoof's performance.

STARSTRUCK
...was how i felt when the band came on. i was delirious for about 5 songs. i really don't remember what songs they were (i generally don't know titles in general, just track numbers) but they were INCREDIBLE.

i managed to get about 10 people in by the encores. i thought they were starting the second half and was so sad when i realized that they were starting the encores and the evening was going to end. the beautiful berkeley fog rolled in and i wriggled out of the pit to find my hubby. he wasn't a fan coming in but he's definitely a fan now. he's come to a "how do they come up with that stuff" which i think is crucial for any aesthetic appreciation. the best example i can think of is mozart because its really just nice stuff and then you realize how simple it is musically and then you're like WTF? how did he DO that? or with the late beethoven quartets. or just listen to mozart's last symphony and beethoven's 1st. WTF? WTF? (please watch for my forthcoming title, "classical radiohead" in the next 20 or so years. :) ) anyway, the hubby's in on it now!

NOW THE HARD PART
i think in general that the band sounded tired. i'm sorry. i know a lot of you LOVED it and i did, too, but it just wasn't as incredible for me. hearing the songs live, singing with everyone else, seeing them in person--that was beyond expectation, a singular experience. but there were a few moments when i caught myself thinking, "i'm not really enjoying this..." they didn't seem that inspired or to believe in what they were singing as they might have during the ok computer tour (this was my first concert however). i think its maybe that yeah, the old songs are fantastic but they must want to move on in a way... i know they did in playing the new stuff but i don't know, something was just missing for me. i would have much preferred to be at the paris thom and jonny concert. its like if beethoven was playing the greek and played the 3rd symphony, the fifth, etc. which would in every way be PHENOMENAL. but i'd actually rather hear grand master b just improvising or figuring out the arguments in the late quartets... can i get a witness? if so, holla back, k?

FOR NEXT TIME
i am getting in line at 7am instead of 11am to be front row. nothing beats front row. the time after that i'd probably just sit on tightwad hill to get the total sound effect. my husband and our friends were in the first row behind the pit and they had a completely different experience than i did... i went out there during kid a track 1 and i was shocked at how mellow people were. but it was great to be able to see everything. another fan mentioned that the berkeley crowd might have been a little more wine and cheese than guiness (much like pac bell park vs. wrigley or something), which he thought could have made the crowd more mellow. i don't know. i love the bay but yeah, wine and cheese just stink sometimes.

LAST CALL
the wwf moment was high comedy in my opinion.
the new songs are awesome. can't wait for the new album.
i can't believe some of you saw them walking on campus. that's unbelievable.
how did greenplastic.com get to talk with thom and ed? that's amazing. i actually went to chez panisse and downtown bar & restaurant to see if maybe they were having their after party there. no luck, though. then i went to the claremont hotel to see if they were staying there (i don't know what i'd actually do with the information; its not like i'd go knock on every door or anything, but maybe i could have pulled the fire alarm and forced them to come out. that would have been awesome!) but the dudes outside said, "No, Radiohead's not here, but the Counting Crowes are." Not much of a consolation prize.

ONE LAST STORY (its funny, i promise)
so my sister's boyfriend works at the spotted pig in manhattan where the ny after party was held. now the spotted pig has some celebrity investors (its still just a regular cool pub though), and i guess to maximize the potential, the manager invited homies jay-z, beyonce, lindsay lohan, etc. etc. not really thom & co.'s crowd i would think so supposedly radiohead showed up and were PISSED. i would be, too. they were probably just expecting some food, beer, a little catching up with michael stipe [why is stipe friends with c-mart?!?!] and to be on their way. but instead they got something too bootylicious for ya babe. anyway, my sister said they just went upstairs, ate, and left.

Third time for me, hadn't seen them since Coachella where they ruined any other band's chance of ever living up. Anticipation for weeks, checking set lists, reading updates. Got there early for soundcheck, couldn't believe it when 3 kids got busted for smoking ganj up in the parking lot. I thought this was Berkeley.

Great venue, great weather, great crowd. Deerhoof?

When Radiohead came out and played Airbag, it just became obvious that they still take seriously the details of their craft and what makes it work. I mean, other bands can play shows with energy or alter their tracks, or what have you, but with our heroes, you can just sense the amount of effort they put forth. Maybe that doesn't make sense.

I agree with those who told us to relax and wait for the new songs to be heard live. Thought the new songs seemed polished/tight and can't wait to hear a full album.

Many highlights, if you put a gun to my head, I'd still have to pick 2: True Love Waits into EIIRP was amazing, and. Black. Star. I had almost forgotten what a great song it was, but also, hearing it live for the first time at such a beautiful place was what I'll have with me the longest when Alzheimer's creeps in someday. . .

Came from Seattle to see this show. The only item I can really express is how flawless Thom's voice sounded...he usually has his share of cracks and such (which I have no problem with,) but this time it really sounded like he had been practicing for this tour and had benefitted from some time off to recharge the batteries. With that said, I really hope they do a full tour next year after the album is released! Three years is WAAAAAY too long to go without live Radiohead. I really wanted to hear more from Kid A (Morning Bell, Idioteque) but I see they covered those tracks on Friday. I feel like Radiohead is rapidly approaching or has reached the number of albums/songs to play two full sets in one show like the U2s of the world, I am being greedy, I know, but with the number of incredible tracks they have and continue to build on, a two hour show just doesn't cut it!

Two final thoughts, just to echo what many are saying, Thom's true love waits lead-in on the Rhodes into Everything in its Right Place will be one of the greatest memories I'll cherish, and the people at Berkeley and the Greek Theatre were so friendly, happy, the venue was unlike any I've ever been to and I feel blessed for having the opportunity to be there.

Last nights show was good. I thought that it was a little subdued... when i heard they were playing at the greek, i literally freaked out (the last time I saw them there were close to 60K people). With that in mind, I was expecting the band to really blow the crowd away, so I was a little disappointed with the set list. I also felt like Thom could have interacted with the crowd more... Anyway, its was a good show (it was Radiohead, duh), but not great.

It was worth every effort. I feel sorry for the people that bitched about the price of resale tickets and didn't end up going. This was my 3rd (Red Rocks & Shoreline) Radiohead show and it was the first time I feel like a saw the greatest band in the world. Not because of the music-It was strong at all 3 shows. The diffrence in Berkeley was the attitude of the band. It didn't look like they were touring for work. It clear to me that the well deserved rest over the last couple of years have been kind to my favorite band. I'm hoping this tour is going to be remembered as the best in a long time and if history is kind enought to lable this as the pinnacle I'll be saying " I WAS THERE" when I'm old and grey.

Like many other students, I did not have the pleasure of viewing a lot of the light show and the band because I didn't want to pay the souless scalpers $150. But I did, however, hear the show from the top of the hill with about 200 other students (I was the tall guy with the hookah, for those of you who migh remember me getting hasseled by the cops every 5 minutes. It's TOBACCO yu pigs.) And I just want to say to all of you who didn't pay the insane price that the scalpers were charging... next time we have to rush the gate. They can't arrest us all. And to the people that climbed the gate, stepped over the barbed wire onto the portopotty and slid down to see the show up close without paying... you rock, thom would be proud. And I hope you guys helped the kid who tried to squeeze between the barbed wire and the top of the gate. He's definetly got tetanus now.

Anyway here's the deal. Radiohead is probably the best live band that ever lived. Not just because of the spectacular light show but because they can play ANY and EVERY song they have ever written flawlessly i.e KID A!!! I have never heard a live version of Kid A and I have a lot of bootlegged live albums. John Mayer's version). Also, True Love Waits rocked my world (will he release that version on the next album? he fucking BETTER!) and they turned Black Star into a good song, which blew my mind because that song is terrible. And I hope everyone enjoyed the bass line in the Gloaming. I first heard it on a live video of Glastonbury 2003. The only thing that peeved me a little was that they didn't play There There. Why not cut off my sack too Radiohead. You could have cut Paranoid Android. Doesn't matter, hopefully they'll play it in San Deigo on Tuesday.

The new songs were AWESOME!!! The only problem is that the audience isn't usually too responsive to new songs so a lot of people on the hill were talking. And the old songs were great too. I kinda forgot that Ed knows how to sing. He was actually hitting the notes (well... close enough).

All in all, Radiohead SUCKS. Booooooo. Rubbish. Flith. Slime. Muck. Booooooooooooooooooo!!!(heh)

This was hands down the best concert I've ever been to. Everything about the concert was unbelievable....the sound, the transition on 2+2, the dramatic fog rolling into the Berkeley hills, and Thoms voice was absolutely riveting.

The energy of the crowd gave me chills. The only downfall was some idiot sitting behind me that kept yelling "PLAY CREEP" between tracks.

I have always loved Radioheads music, but after this concert my appreciation for their music has grown to another level!

I went both nights so here is my review of both of them-
this concert was amazing, the one the night before the band was goofing around more and I don't think were taking themselves so seriously (also not a bad thing). Tonight though, they were all about the music. They played almost all the songs I wanted them to play that they hadn't played the night before (except Karma Police, Just, Creep, Sit Down Stand Up, and Go To Sleep)but no big deal these were the two best concerts of my entire life. The jam at the end of Down is the New Up the 2nd day was just awesome and I really hope they include that version on the new album.
I got chills during fake plastic trees and was very impressed with the new songs. A lot of them are softer but that's fine by me.
I was in the 2nd row (practically the first both days as the girl in front of me both days was very short). I had Jonny right in front of me and during when he was playing drums for Down is the New Up he was looking right at me the entire time it was great. Thom also made some funny faces at me during spooks trying to get me to laugh and one of them I'll have ingrained in my mind forever.

as has been well noted, it was an amazing experience to see radiohead at the greek theatre, especially being that i am from georgia and it was my first trip to california, the bay, and berkeley. it was also my first radiohead show, though i've been a huge fan for years. the new material is something else. it sounds completely new and different but it also makes perfect sense. i enjoyed hearing the crowd roar along to the line in "no suprises" about the government--"they don't speak for us". i also loved the songs from the bends that made it to the encore. "how to disappear completely" was very intimate, as was "the tourist". on a side note, does anyone know for sure whether the fan onstage was looking to have a good time or to knock out thom yorke? i've heard it both ways from several different people. to be honest, the whole business kinda freaked me out, but the band kept moving, so i followed! these guys really are in their prime! happy birthday to colin! i love the way you play!

What an experience. Perfect weather, perfect night. What a sound... I have been to many many concerts and I can't believe how perfect it sounded. Some songs sounded like they had played them right off the CD.

The only thing that upset me was this: I happend to get in the pit right as the band started. Awesome. But with all the new camera phones and digital video recorders, my experience was quite ruined by the distractions from everyone using these devices. At many moments during the concert I remember seeing as many as 12 display screens from people's phones. Very very distracting. Completely took me out of the mood when someone sticks one of those up in front of your face. I had to keep bumping my girlfriend into the guy in front of me so he would put that dang thing away. Anyone else annoyed with this? show was great though.

I can't believe they played True Love Waits... I went ballistic... I've been hoping to hear that for years.

Overall, great show. You can't beat the Greek Theatre when the crowd's psyched to be there, and the fog starts billowing over the eve of the stage. Unfortunately, Thom and crew didn't seem that into it... I've seen them now 6 times, and they're 100x better when they're excited to be playing. They seemed kind of blase.

I also didn't understand why they kept on bringing out extra drum kits just to play the same rhythm. I mean, we all know that you guys are talented multi-instrumentalists... You don't need to show off if it doesn't accomplish anything.

But, I loved it. They played Airbag! And Myxamatosis! Yay!

(speechless)

No, really though, this was the most amazing show that I have ever experienced. "Airbag" and "2+2=5" opening the show! I couldn't have asked for anything better. Thom stopping and starting over on "Nude," it was classic. "Myxamatosis" was insane. You cannot truely appreciate the energy of that song until you hear it live. There were so many awsome surprises. "Black Star" in the first encore and "Tourist" ending the show, but by far the best surprise was "True Love Waits" leading into "Everything in its right place" at the end of the first encore (Ridiculously amazing!). I would slap my mama to see this show again!

PS the Greek was F-ING awsome!

I happened to catch both shows at Berkeley, Friday being the first I had seen Radiohead live. Friday night I managed to get higher seats and Saturday I got front row after a long wait. Regardless, Saturday night was a completely different experience. The first night night there had been a small problem and I recall Thom getting quite angry. The mood of the overall concert seemed lower. Saturday night was a lot different. A lot of great laughs from Thom's usual comments. Ran into some awesome Radiohead fans as well : ). I'm sure most of them go here already.

I'm still in awe at how many new songs they played. Amazing show(s). A long drive from Washington, but well worth it.

Yet another aging concert junkie reporting. I am 43 and my wife and I went to Saturdays show. I have been to probably 150 concerts and this was by far the best show I have had the pleasure to witness. The sound was impeccable; it was like having headphones on. The crowd (at least by us was great) and the band was just on!! I loved everything. I loved the new stuff and what can I say about the classics. Paranoid Android and Fake Plastic Trees were highlights for me. The band is so professional, so tight, and so appreciative, it made for an excellent evening. I will never forget it.

All future concerts will forever be shadowed by how amazing and, simply put, perfect Radiohead's performance was Saturday night. There's nothing better than the coming together of Radiohead fanatics -- I'm the head facilitator (aka teacher) of UC Berkeley's famed Radiohead class, and the feeling of being among fellow fanatics is absolutely fantastic.

For the Friday show, I sat up on the hill that overlooks the Greek Theater to listen in. While there were a good number of songs Friday night that I wish I could have seen in person the next night (there were no repeats from the night before, with the exception of the new songs and "Everything In Its Right Place"), like "Pyramid Song" or "National Anthem", I'm really happy that I was at the Saturday night show. There was more energy, Thom was having a blast on stage, and they played "Paranoid Android." I can die now.

Thom definitely seemed in great spirits and had a great time engaging with the audience. I was 15 feet away down on the pit (which got scary during the fast parts of "Paranoid Android," "2+2=5" and "Myxomatosis", during which Thom actually pointed down to the pit and said "Settle down" a couple of times, which was very sweet of him to do!) and saw Thom smile more than I'd ever seen him do during a concert. The band was perfect, even when the mic started messing up a bit, to which Thom stopped midway during "Nude" (I think that was the song) and got a new mic. He apologized and said "We have a lot of new songs and a lot of them are sketchy, just pretend that it never happened." We were giggling like school girls, I'll admit. It was pretty cute.

Thom later offered to carry on the show at someone's house after saying "the fog is coming in, that means it's time to go home." He also added that they'll be seeing us soon -- I HOPE SO! I saw them 5 years ago on the Amnesiac tour at the Hollywood Bowl. Thom then had said "We won't be seeing you all for quite some time." Yay for more US touring this time, I hope!

The performance was beyond amazing, especially when they played "Climbing Up The Walls" and Thom brought his guitar up to his mouth and wailed, echoing the sound through the guitar and into the mic. Along with his I-can't-find-the-words guitar playing and having fun with his ondes martenot (which I love so much!), Jonny did a great drum accompanyment to Phil's drumming during one of the new songs, which was pretty awesome to watch. Colin's bass almost brought my friends and I to our knees during "How to Disappear Completely" (happy 37th birthday, Colin!) with that walking bass line that feels like a dream. Ed's harmonies were right on target and Phil was of course brilliant on the drums. The set list could not have been better, full of surprises that made me scream for joy with every song. Best show ever!! We're all so lucky to have been there, and I'm very honored to have shared it with everyone that was there!

Last thing: during "Black Star," Thom had put back on a vest he was wearing earlier. He smiled, crossed his arms, then put his hands into the vest pockets and swayed back and forth like a little kid, probably saying to himself "Jesus, you all remember this song and actually know the words." It was the funniest thing I had seen all night.

And his dancing was even better than the SNL performance, especially during "Myxomatosis" when he actually twitched and curled his hands up around the mic as if he were a very sick rabbit. Too cool! Such a wonderful show, god I love those guys!

This was my second time seeing Radiohead, the first being their Coachella set back in 2004. I took one of my best friends whose favorite band is Radiohead and had never seen them. We got good seats in the lower stone bleachers and sat in quiet anticipation. I leaned over to my friend and said, they are going to open up with Airbag, and sure enough they did.
Most times when bands debut new material, even your favorite bands, it's hard to get into, since it's so fresh to your senses, but Radiohead played their new material as if they were classics, the sign of a band with the utmost amount of confidence. They did a good job mixing in songs from all their albums as well as playing at least five new songs as well.
During Paranoid, I almost started a moshpit in the bleachers, I get so amped when Thom sings "god loves his children" before they rip back into the heavy guitar riffs.
The songs from Hail to the Thief were ten times better live then they are on the already stellar record. And despite being the big radio hit, "Fake Plastic Trees" was the perfect encore song, as a sold out Greek Theater became one with the band in singing. I have only choked up and come to tears twice, seeing Muse and The Arcade Fire, but their renditions of Trees and How to Disappear made me shed a few. And the second encore, although normal for Radiohead, is a very rare occurance in music and I thank them for continuing to provide the best rock concert currently in the world. There wasn't one unsatisfied fan leaving the Greek that night. And the band seemed just as thankful for the experience as we did. I just hope when they come back, that they consider playing five nights at the Greek as opposed to one night at the crappy Shoreline. It's Quality and Quanity, when it comes to Radiohead's music and performance.
I just wished I could have been at the previous night's show just to hear my personal fav, "Exit Music".

This show turned out to be very good. The sound was amazing, and barely none of the instruments or vocals drowned out one another so you could hear what was going on. there was alot of energy going back and forth between the audience and the band. Thom did his "thom dance multiple times. The new material sounded refreshing and polished. The new album should hopefully kick ass. The set list was great, contained a lot of "hits" yet songs that i didnt expect. It all turned out very well, infact, it was one of the best ive ever gone to.

So, I didnt get a ticket for this show, but I still attended, sitting with a bunch of baked out kids on a hill behind the sadium. And let me tell you, it was every bit as amazing as I expected. The enviornment of Berkley is surreal, and ( I know a bunch of people have said this) the fog rolling in enhanced the feeling in the music ten fold. I can't wait for the LA shows that I actually have tickets for.

I'm starting late in the game as both a Radiohead fan and a concert junkie. I know the hits and play acousticized covers of their songs with my garage band (actually just two guys who spent too much time and money on their education and are now stuck having to maintain "careers" when in reality all they want to do is rock). But that's not the point. Point is, this was my first time seeing Radiohead, but also one of the best concert experience I've had. There had been much anticipation. I've been lurking this site, monitoring the setlist, calculating the probabilities that a song is played, watching how those probabilities evolve between the european and north american leg of the tour, burning said setlist in decreasing order of probability onto cd so my wife who had never listened to any Radiohead except Creep can listen in the car and "practice" because there's something to be said about training for a concert. You can't just walk in, light up and bask in the swirl of sound and lights and tetrahydrocannabinol. And in spite of all my preparation, the whole experience was still a complete surprise. First example, Radiohead fans are not fanatics. My wife and I showed up at 11am and there were only about 100 people ahead of us. We lined up on the right side of the stage. I was expecting a lot more. It was one of the most mellow waiting-in-line days I've ever had. Aside from having to walk to the cafe down the street every 30 minutes to piss from too much coffee, it was really relaxing. I feel sorry for the people who sat in the other line all day in the sun. Yes, overall a great wine and cheese day.

Then the gates opened, and another surprise. The venue was spectacular. Made me think they should just tear down every other big built-into-the-side-of-a-hill amphitheater starting with Shoreline then Great Woods then Irvine. This theater had character and most importantly all the seats offered a good view unless you were behind the chainlink fence and 4 eucalyptus trees up in the parking lot. Even the lawn had gorgeous views of the stage and Bay, but I bet sitting on that steep slope was a good way to get third degree numbass. It was just big enough to hold the right mixture of casual to hardcore fans. Any bigger and there would have been too many who came just because it was a concert and not because it was Radiohead. And I suspect that a bigger venue would have resulted in a higher concentration of secondary weed smoke which is ok (I'm not judging) except that it gave my friend nausea because his stomach was empty. We had a thorough seating plan thought out. I wanted to be close so I could check out the equipment on the stage, but I did not want to be in the pit like in my younger days. So we agreed before going in that we would be on the very first riser, 10 inches higher than pit fans who are giants and/or has big head/hair. Fortunately, Radiohead fans have been genetically typed as "short" or in regular parlance "not tall" people, so this ended up being the perfect place to watch the show. Because we chose the shady line, it meant that we would be on Ed's side of the stage. But my wife, being the understanding person that she is, insisted that if I wanted to be on Jonny's side we could move. I know there are legions of Jonny worshippers out there, but I'm going to give props to Ed who has been severely underrated. Besides, how I can appreciate Jonny's guitar playing if he spends half his time pounding keys or hitting drums or scratching his hair? Ed O'Brien is a consummate guitarist who knows how to chose the right axe for the right job. Yes yes, Jonny is cool and his telecaster is cool and being cool is cool. But Ed... he plays like a motherfecker, sings backup with vigor and skill (his vocal parts aren't easy folks), really knows how to rub that bead/scraper thing on Paranoid Android, and he can dial in cool counds on that telephone thing. In case you're wondering, the number he called was 1-800-ED-ROCKS. Awesome to see him up so close. I didn't realize that I had been playing Black Star all this time with a wrong chord. Awesome to see him set me straight.

The concert itself. Great! But everyone has already covered that so no need for me to rehash it. We all had a great time, even the wife up until 2 weeks ago heard a Radiohead song and said "Hey I know this one, don't you play this?" thoroughly enjoyed it. By the time Thom transitioned into the keyboard riff for EIIRP, she was all into it. Yes honey, yesterday I did wake up sucking a lemon, and yes, there really are two colo(u)rs in my head. Oh I do want to point out that it's just not cool to sing along with the band on quiet songs especially if you can't sing. The idiot behind me was so out of tune he totally ruined Fake Plastic Trees for me. I wanted to throw him on the stage so the security team can have their way with him. Nice tackle on that stage jumper by the way. Too bad it was only one guy who took him down.

Overall, a day and night to remember.

Had the pleasure of going to both shows (and the displeasure of having to drive back to Sacramento each night). This was my third and fourth time seeing the greatest band on the face of the planet and I didn't walk away disappointed. After waking up at 6:30am, working six hours, commuting in the 106 degree heat, driving two and a half hours, walking to the end of a line longer than the one to get into hell, and then having to navigate a fiasco at the willcall office, I finally got into the Greek (great venue). Deerhoof rocked it, as expected, but I was pretty amazed by the reaction of a Radiohead crowd to this band. Very few fans, even fewer open minds. The first show was kind of underwhelming. Think it had something to do with the setlist and the unending problems the band was having with the sound guys.

The second night however...

Shoreline in 2001 is the greatest show I've ever been too, despite terrible seats, no view, and subpar sound (from Shoreline, not the band). The Saturday show came up just short of that show, but is still the second best I've ever attended. "2+2=5"...wow. I think everybody there witnessed a working definition of "crescendo". "PA" was, of course, great. "How to Disappear" was another highlight. "Kid A". But despite being an album closer, I don't think "the Tourist" was the best choice of a closer for such an intense show. They closed with "Motion Picture Soundtrack" a couple of years ago, which sent everybody away in a daze. "The Tourist" was a bit of a wind down.

Minor quibbles, really. Fantastic show. I will see this band every opportunity I get until the day I die or they, god forbid, break up.

This was my third radiohead attendance and it was well worth the big bucks I paid and the long wait, drive, and lack of sleep the night before. I must say that this was my favorite show and I hope that they grace us with their presense again very soon! First off and most importantly I must add that the Greek Theatre was sooooo much better than Shorline and even just the simple fact that the tickets were general admission made all of the difference in the world. Everyone who feels the same way needs to make it heard. I'm anxiously looking forward to another general admission show at the Greek theatre in Berkeley and I believe that Radiohead needs to know how pleased their fans are for making the decision to play at this wonderful intimate venue.
I was pleasantly surprised with Deerhoof. I wasn't very impressed but pleasantly surprised.
I also agree with the person who mentioned that the sound was awesome and surprisingly flowed well and spread through the entire venue without leaving fans with ringing ears. I made the same observation while having a late night snack at Denny's with some friends. It turned out that I wasn't the only one who made that observation.
I have never experienced so much second hand pot smoke in my life. I couldn't believe how many people were so freely smoking pot in the audience. If I were to state one flaw about the theatre this would be it. Not because I am anti-maryjane but because I am highly allergic if I am exposed to too much of it. I've been to many concerts and like I've said before I've never experienced anything like this before. One in two people had a pipe or a joint in their hands and all the staff members would do is shake their heads at them and tell them to put it away. I think it's awesome for people who smoke but it was terrible for me because I wound up having to watch (or should I say listen to the show) from the bathroom. After waiting in line for 6 hours to score the pick of our seats it was kind of disappointing but I am in no means complaining. The show kicked ass. I could still hear what was giong on. It's always expected that people will smoke pot at concerts but this was an exeptional amount in Berkeley. If you are amongst the people who were smoking me out please keep in mind next time that the person sitting next to you just might be allergic. (It's a good hint if they are covering their faces with their shirts.)
Right before they played fake plastic trees I was singing it. It was a pleasant surprise that they ended up playing it. I was stoked! All in all I can't wait til the next show. I know that I'll just have to accept the second hand smoke.

Two days later and I am still in shock…it’s hard to believe that I have twice witnessed performances by the most talented and amazing band in history!! What a powerful and moving experience! Radiohead is better live than I ever could have imagined. 2+2=5, Nude, All I Need, and Climbing Up the Walls were breathtaking! This music is beautiful in all its complexity, but I am left with a heavy heart as I return home and await the new album and the next tour.

I finally got to see you guys after 10 years of bad timing. I knew that Radiohead is awesome live and it really showed in the Saturday show. I really hope you guys come back to the Greek Theatre because that place was perfect and I really thought later in the show that Radiohead was summoning the mothership or a nordic god. The only bummer part for me is that I couldn't get a T-shirt since the highest one was XL which I was hoping to get 2xl. I actually said to the merchant that they must not like fattys which she replies oh you know those alt kids.. LOL Also bummed that I miss The Tourist because I thought it was the end of the show :P GOOD TIMES

I wanted to comment on the 2-drum setup they seem to be employing now.

It looks like, with the new stuff, they are trying to get away from having the electronic drum machine play out the beat while the full drum kit does all the other fills.

It sounds like they want to give the whole thing a more real feeling to it.

So when Johnny or Thom were on the drums, they were beating out the steady 4/4 beat while Phillip was playing cymbols and misc fills and rhythms.

At first I thought it was just more standard Radiohead self-indulgence, but then once I figured out what they were actually playing (lead drums/rhythm drums), I really like how it sounded.

can your life change from a mere concert...? If it's RADIOHEAD, then hell yes! 35 hours in a cramped pickup from dallas and i would do it again at the drop of anything. i got chills (apart from the crisp temp.) from climbing up the walls, and fake plastic trees was heaven in song. in total: 5 people = $3000 (tix.incld.) worth every cent. oh yes, the new material was great. much attitude. good vibes. congratulations to whoever got tackled on stage...%@$* @*^

My first Radiohead show ever and lived up to all expectations EXCEPT! being told to get "down in front" when Radiohead was just coming to the stage!!!! Funny, we all got up when they started playing?! I was impressed with Radiohead but apparently the crowd just came to get stoned. RADIOHEAD ROCKS.

i've made it a point to see them every chance I can get (within reason, and it's still not enough)... warfield, shoreline, indio for coachella, and now greek theatre... and still, i walk away blurring distortions and guitar riffs - i don't think i'll ever walk away with a lucid memory. it'll always be perfect at the moment - precise, unbelievable, and always out of reach.i dont think i'll ever forget and ever remember any particular part of the show. ever.

It was my first time seeing Radiohead live. My buddies and I drove down from Spokane, WA. to see them. The concert was amazing, such a great experience. The setlist was great. One of my favorites 2+2=5 was unbeleivable live. I was in the pit and that was a great time. I can't wait to see them again.

Second Radiohead Show, the boys have improved considerably, new songs, well they're Radiohead songs so you can't expect anything less than near perfection. Perfectly arranged setlist, and an amazing performance.
Great venue btw, easy to go to the front.

I was just reminiscing and I think that Paranoid Android was played toward the end of the show, during the first oncore? I might be wrong though...
