Tonight was a refreshing, foggy respite from the scorching week we have endured in the bay area. Then there is radiohead. A nice mix of hits and new tracks, but the most apparent thing about the band tonight was their confidence. The new songs were played with a swagger and ease that made them seem like songs we had all heard before. Ed sitting and working the tools during videotape was a treat to see as was seeing johnny on percussion on down is the new up. Morning Bell was a nice surprise as was Wolf at the Door and Bones sounded great and let everyone know that radiohead can surely still ROCK!!! They continue to be my favorite band and I contest that they are the most important band in rock. Good show and can't wait to see them tomorrow.

I've seen Radiohead 3 times now (4 times tomorrow). I love them to death and they're probably my favorite band of all time but tonight was an average show. I felt bad for the band because they had technical dificulties during the first new song and during idioteque. I think Thom was going to strangle somebody! I personally didn't hear or see the problem, but Thom and Phil just kept looking at the sound guys in a confused way and during idioteque Thom was yelling and jumping and pointing to the ground saying, "_____ DOWN!!!!" (Turn it down? Bring it down? You're going down? Beats me). New songs sound really good though and the setlist was excellent. Stage show was good. What was really strange is that it had been around 90 degrees all week but tonight it was cold and foggy in Berekeley. Created a weird effect while watching the show. Thom at one point said, "this fog is really strange." Anyway that's my review...sorry to not add a raving fantaic style review. Maybe tomorrow will be different. Maybe Thom will spank him something good by then!

The first show at the Greek in Berkeley was probably the best Radiohead show I've been to. The venue was perfect, the crowd was lively and the band was relatively flawless tonight. But what made it the BEST show was that they played so much of their new material, and these songs could easily be considered some of their best work to date. They have returned to more of the distorted-guitar Radiohead sound, which many people will love, but they also managed to keep it fresh and new sounding. There was this one short but hectic instrumental that they played that sounded like a blend of the old Batman TV show theme and an old surf record played tenaciously while on crack that was one of the highlights of the night.

YES!!! Radiohead was awesome! No!!! It was not the best show they ever did! Yes!!! There were a couple songs like "15 step" and "Idioteque" that Thom got pissed about something! No!!! It did not ruin the show! Yes!!! Morons who yell in the middle of a verse make Thom stop singing! No!!! That was not good! Unless you're singing along, don't say anything while "the master" is working.
They only played a combined 4 songs off the bends and ok computer but I had never been so close to the stage, so that made up for it. I wish they'd play 3 shows at the greek instead of one at the shoreline. It's a great atmosphere and everyone was laid back, so it was worth it.
The new album will be great. All the new songs have their own taste. It's a good mix. Can't Wait!!!

Bunny, bunny, bunny and then it was Radiohead's turn...thankfully. Shattered screens and illuminated fog both pulsed and oozed down around the raptured crowd while Thom's seductive yet eerie voice lulled us into space. Pyramid Song followed by Like Spinning Plates were fantastic. Loved the new songs and the old ones...Bones, Lucky, Idioteque. Spent enough to buy two and then some cases of Great White beer but it was a night out in the making for three years. Thanks Radiohead for making sound and mental art.

This was my third time seeing Radiohead, but my first not being a totally obsessed fan. Both times I've seen them before, I was younger and completely idolized them, so instead of really sinking into show, I freaked out and cried and tried to capture the experience on a camera or cassette. I realize after last nights show how important those shows were. The first was for the Amnesiac tour and the second for Hail to the Thief, both at Red Rocks in Colorado. It is always amazing to see a band right after they release an album, they are so energized and hungry to perform everything live.
They seem a bit tired of performing, Thom almost appeared to be terrified at one point. The set list was good, but almost felt scattered, not fluid.I liked it in the sense that each song was it's own journy, I went on so many last night. I wish they could have gotten away with playing all new material with acception of a few old songs. But the fans are hungry for the hits. The crowd was pleasent with the acception of a few interuptions during Exit Music(which always seems to happen). Thom is so sensitive and while I found myself wanting to hug him or shake him out of is seemingly foul mood, he is the crazy genius that has made most of this posible and I'll accept all of his flaws and try to have a good time regardless. It was good to see Jonny looking so youthful and still shocking us with his magic tricks. Collin always makes me happy, he is always smiling. Ed was really getting into the last few songs, I like it when he loosens up a bit. Could hardly see Phil, he likes to hide, but damn, he was playing some amazing grooves on the new songs.
No, it was not the best Radiohead show ever, but they are all incredible and it was amazing to see them at such a beautiful venue, it was so beautiful watching the fog decend upon the crowd. I also loved seeing Deerhoof and Thoms comment on Deerhoof.
I hope everyone has fun tonight, I wish I could be there.

didn't actually 'see' the show as we were sitting on the hill behind the venue, but hearing perfectly and not paying is pretty rad too. i have to say, the highlight of the show for me was a beautiful rendition of 'big ideas (nude)' which i have been wanting to hear live since before kid a. and it was a gorgeous version. the music was tight, the fans were nice, and i think tonight sneaking in will make it even better...

Really good show. Thom's voice sounded excellent. Very tight performances. Can't wait for new album based on what we heard. Definitely some tech problems that made Thom mad. but un-noticeable to the crowd. Would have liked to seen a bit more guitar, but I'm guessing tonight's show will have that. Brilliant that they did these small venues. The atmosphere was something else.

I met a guy in the crowd who smoked out my friend. He popped something then passed out and fell on lots of people. Security almost escorted him out but he ended up being ok.
Deerhoof was awesome. The fog was awesome.
I was four rows back. Radiohead came on and the first two songs were really great. 15 step started and he looked extremely pissed off. Extremely. He said into the mic "What the fuck?!" YOu could tell he was trying not to talk into the mic in order to not stop the show etc. He didn't do anything for a long time and the beat kept playing as he was motioning to the sound guys and gesturing towards jonny, telling them to turn something down. Then he came right over by us and sat on a monitor and looked very upset. Everyone was screaming wildly at this which seemed to disgust both thom and I. He eventually started singing and it sounded really great. The songs sound much better when you are really there, to a startling degree. They also did seem much, much tighter. Thoms voice and the embellishments in nude wore... for lack of a btter word amazing. That specifically amazed me. Bangers n mash is a good song, the bootlegs are horrible. There were problems the whole night. The mini set was almost inaudible bt managed to emit a horrible crackling noise the entire time it was on stage that colin was really concerned about. Before bangers n mash thom tested it out and it was too quiet and crackled. He stood up and picked up his tamborine and made an " a-ok" sign with his hand and had a really, really sarcastic expression. Before ditnu thom said "as if you haven't had a hard enough time already, here's another new one." Maybe he isn't getting great reactions from the new material? During exit music a horrendously loud croud made the verse sound like ass and thom didn't sing the last part of it"we escape..." In the beginning of idioteque that thing happened graham was talking about where all the bass came together on thom. He kept going up to the front but then had to step back. Jonny and colin aparently thought he wanted it sped up as usual, i think phil gestured that to jonny, so it kept getting faster and faster. It seemed pretty rushed. In the beginning of exit music thom fumbled up the beginning chords really, really bad because he was trying to fix his mic cable. Also he kept having to adjust his wireless pack. Mad gesturing to the side of the stage during most of the show and two times he walked entirely off stage while the rest of the band did nothing. Lots of sound problems. Ed makes the weirdest faces. Hilarity. The encore was awesome until some drugged up hippy got right in front of my dancing... like they do. Everything in it's right place was absolutely amazing live. Colin seems really nice. I <3 him.

i've seen Radiohead perform many times over the last several years. this show, in my opinion was one of the best. a great venue that allows people to be close to the stage, unlike that other place(shoreline). when they first walked out onto the stage it was such a surreal experience. they exude such a powerful vibe. jonny looked so cool coming out with that hoodie covering his head, as it was really foggy. they opened the show with, 'you and whose army?' which was awesome. others that i really enjoyed were, arpeggi, there there, 4 minute warning(great new song), and bones. although i can't say that there was anything i didn't like. i thought that a few of the new songs were kinda lacking. nude sounded really empty to me and very anti-climatic. i thought the old version with thom on the rhodes was brilliant. house of cards has a nice groove to it, but it never really takes off. sounds more like b-side material. some of the bad parts of the show werefew idiots yelling on the opening part of exit music. thom was really annoyed and actually stopped singing for a few lines. i also had to deal with a few rude people barging their way in front of me towards the end. in closing, all i have to say is, don't miss this one!

I have seen Radiohead 4 times now and this was by far the worst show I have seen bye them. They sounded pretty sloppy and i can't believe tom york was wearing some kind of collard button up metrosexual shirt. he's tom york not ben aflek!!!! I was pretty bummed out that because they didn't play creep, because i was waiting for it. none of the new songs sounded like they had really worked them out the bugs and snags uyet, all pretty sloppy. better luck next time finding tix and good sound.

It's radiohead, so I really enjoyed the concert. Song selection was relatively poor... and I overheard several people (and i totally agree) that Saturday's performance was MUCH MUCH better. They did play "Wolf at the Door"... that song is soo amazing live.
deerhoof sucked -bleh. sounds like the ripped off blips of other songs and smashed it together with a yoko ono wannabe. did she also say bomb china???

Well, looking at all the reviews for the 2nd night made me wish that I was there but I was definitely happy to have made Friday's! The setlist was amazing, especially the new songs! My god, the way they've modified Big Ideas (Nude) was just fantastic! The new jazzier version completely brings out Thom's vocals which in my mind have never sounded better! I also really liked House Of Cards, and Arpeggi always sounds terrific, although it's the only time I've seen the song live. Some of you folks are damn lucky! Although there were some technical issues through some of the songs, it didn't matter! Nothing could have prevented me from admiring the show. This is the 8th time I've seen Radiohead and that was the finest and most heart stopping performance of Exit Music I have ever witnessed! God bless us all! See you all next year!

What a lovely performance. Thom's voice sounded beautiful and the band was amazing. The fog added a special element to the light show. Opening with You And Whose Army gave me chills, but the highlight was There There with it's pulsating, hypnotic rhythm. Exit Music, Street Spirit, Pyramid Song, Like Spinning Plates, Lucky and Everything In Its Right Place were excellent. I'm glad I missed show #2 and the more popular set list. My only complaint was the rude crowd smoking too many cigarettes and taking too many pictures of themselves while talking too much. Shut up and soak in the performance.

The opening band was just plain strange, instrumentally reminding me of Primus (only without the virtuosity), and with really odd lyrics ("Bunny bunny bunny bunny bunny chi-na!").
But beyond the opening, Radiohead put on a good show. There were some technical difficulties with Thom's monitors. They appeared to be way too loud (which was why he kept backing away from them whenever he got close and glaring at the sound guys backstage). There were some other problems with sound on songs with things like Phil's kick drum being too loud or not loud enough being one of the main things that Thom was getting upset about. however, this appeared to me of a desire for sound he wanted than what the crowd noticed, as it sounded great from out there.
The set list seemed to focus on mainly Kid A/Amnesiac/Hail to the Thief, and the show was more of Radiohead's electronic side than their old guitar rock style. This was interspersed with several appearances of Thom's piano, as well as his keyboard.
The new songs sounded good, and the band looked confident playing them.
The crowd was largely supportive with a few yells at bad times, but on the whole made a lot of noise at the right time.

Radiohead is without a doubt my favorite band. It's not humanly possible for a band to be this good, especially with how layered their songs are on CD. To be able to transfer what they've created in the studio into a live concert...unbelievable. This concert was good...not great. I'm excited for the new CD to come out. The new songs sound pretty amazing live. I thought it wasn't as fluid as their other shows because they played so many new songs. I read the setlist for Saturday's show and I'm bummed I wasn't able to go. I heard from a friend who went that they were a little more personable then on Friday. Thom seemed a little on the grumpy side. I am hoping this is a little warm up to another tour once their new CD comes out. Nonetheless, seeing Radiohead live is truly a great experience even if the show was a little less then great.
Oh!....and Bunny..Bunny.. Bunny... Bunny...Bunny!
Deerhoof sucks.

I have no doubt that Radiohead have done better shows than this one but I very much enjoyed their performance. The setlist was excellent- a whole lot of new stuff and a decent representation from every previous album except Pablo Honey, including a whole lot of Kid A. Could have used more from OK Computer, but when is that not true?
The absolute high point of the night was Nude, which featured just about the most beautiful guitar sounds i've heard in my life. I've heard a few bootlegs of it but this time around it blew my mind and I'm very exited to hear a studio version.
I arrived a bit after the crowds so I was not close enough to see the Thom's reaction to the technical problems, but from where I was the soungs in question sounded great.

2nd time watching radiohead. i got tickets through ticketmaster the sunday they were released for the 23rd.
they played all the best new songs and a lot of good stuff from amnesiac and kid a (which are my personal favorites), but i was a little jealous of the setlist from the next night, the 24th.
i really wanted to hear "black star" and "the tourist" and "where i end and you begin". and "airbag". but oh well.
thom was either really mad part of the 23rd show, or messing around with the audience. probably both.
it was good. i'd go see them no matter what they play, they're amazing.

This is the second Radiohead show I've seen; I saw them support HTTT back in '03 at Shoreline, where they were amazing. They were great this time around too, but I wouldn't consider this show as good. I wish they had done some of the electronic stuff off of Hail, like Backdrifts or Scatterbrain or Where I End And You Begin, because those songs performed live are just so energetic and they are what blew me away the last time around. I also much prefered the screens they used for the HTTT tour, which were actually useful for the audience, while the ones for this tour were purely artistic. Still, excellent show, especially when they seemed to hit their stride a few songs in. Lucky, Bones, Street Spirit, and There There were the great highlights for me, and House Of Cards was fantastic. In fact, all the new material made me really look forward to their new album. Whatever sound issues that Thom seemed to be pissed about during the show had no negative impact on me in the audience; they sounded great. Not as good as the last show I saw, but still one of the better concerts I've ever seen despite being in the nosebleeds, and definitely an example of how Radiohead is one of the best live acts you can see today.

"We hope that you choke
that you choke..."
My first radiohead concert and it blew me away. The song selection was stellar for me b/c i have always loved amnesiac. Hearing "you & whose army" right at the start was sheer delight. But what surprised me, though perhaps it shouldn't have been a surprise, is how strong the new songs are. At least a couple left an immediate impression on me. The one near the end especially ("house of cards"). And what I love most about concerts is hearing old songs in a new way, and coming away from the experience with a refreshed opinion. This first Berkeley show had some amazing effects courtesy of the east bay fog, and seeing the fog wash across the stage during songs like "exit music" and "everything in its right place," simply transformed those songs for me. radiohead is the music i play when i want to be haunted by a modern mood, and no concert will haunt me more than this one.

MEDIOCRE!? no way!
I barley made it to the show due to ticket complications and i thjought all day that i would not be going but somehow i mad it , even though we missed deerhoof...I could not wipe the smile off my face. Perhaps it is because Radiohead is my favorite band...but a band is amazing when you can think of every horrid thing in the world and feel totally at peace with it. It was beautifully sad, and wonderfully haunting. Spinning plates was amazing...it was all amazing- i was amazed by how passionate they all were, i could tell they were not thinking of anything but their music- even after the short complication with the techies- idioteque still sounded amazing.
i don't believe these are people. I plan to see them many more times- It was truly creativley inspiring as well, I have been playing better since I saw the show .

I've now seen Radiohead 6 times now and although any Radiohead show is a good Radiohead show, I would have to say that this was the most disappointing. The new songs sounded great, but overall it was a very mellow setlist. They played all my favorite slow songs (Pyramid Song, Exit Music and Like Spinning Plates), but for 110$ eBay ticket I would've like to hear a few more rockin' ones like Airbag, Myxamatosis, 2+2=5, Just, The Bends, Planet Telex, Where I End and You Begin......Thom looked pissed all night, and couldn't balme him if they were having technical difficulties all night. I don't blame him for not singing the last line in one verse of Exit Music cause some dumbass in my section yelled out a loud "WOOHOO!" - save that for an Aerosmith concert, jackass. Yet another reason why booze shouldn't be sold at concerts.....Roger Waters wrote The Wall because of an incident like that - it's not a compliment to the band, it's an insult!
Also disappointing was their selection of an opening band...Deerhoof??? Quiet possibly the worst opening band ever - how do you go from having Spiritualized and Beta Band open for you to Deerhoof??? Sounded like Yoko Ono screeching on top of drunk teenagers' attempts at experimental jazz. People were laughing and shaking their heads when she kicked in to "Bunny bunny bunny...." What were you thinking guys??

Wow, I've read a lot of the reviews and they're all interesting, everyone has such a unique perspective and it's really great to read them all. Now on to mine, I really think Friday was better mostly because of the setlist. Saturday had more energy no doubt but something about the song selection and the order made it not flow as well for me. Both nights were incredible, the new songs were great. The sound was tops, lights and visuals were fucking awesome, the band was amazing, the venue and it's staff were a class act all weekend long, what more can you say. So to all those folks who think they missed out on Saturday's show, now way, Friday ruled. Thanks Radiohead, come back soon.

I’m so glad I had my first live Radiohead experience at Friday’s show at the Greek in Berkeley. Although I am a long term Radiohead addict I’d never been to one of their shows.
My Radiohead addiction began when I became interested by their first two releases, and it wasn’t long before I moved onto hardcore binging during the summer of 97 that I spent cruising the motorways between Manchester and Liverpool absorbing every track on OK Computer over and over again until my passport expired and was forced to return to the United States. A few years later I found my car airborne while flying along the Pacific Coast Highway listening to the controlling chords of ‘Everything has its place” and settled into a sonic stupor while Amensiac became stuck on repeat play. While my Radiohead fiending got me through some crazy and desperate times, I could see that I needed to ease off it for it a while.
I tried to control it by denying myself access to their new work. When Hail to the Thief came out, I lasted a whole two weeks before I snuck into Amoeba and picked up the limited edition booklet version. I waited a few weeks after that before unwrapping it and letting it fill my car stereo with its compelling sound once, and then I had to take it out and put it away into a dark cupboard lest I was tempted to fall back into my old Radiohead addicted ways.
So, I powered down as soon as I heard word of a HTTT tour, and felt relieved when I discovered that the only Bay Area stop for Radiohead would be at Shoreline, a venue I swore I would never return to ten years ago. Despite my aversion to Mountain View’s concert dump (it IS built on a landfill!) I still found myself taking my lunch break the day of the show at the Tower Records on El Camino checking for ‘release’ tickets.
Thank the stars that the ticket mojo was not with me that day, and I could save my first time with Radiohead live in a venue worthy of them. This patience paid off and my ticket mojo came through for me on a recent Sunday morning, where I woke up at 9:50, made myself a cup of coffee, smoked a vanilla clove, and logged in at 10am to land a pair of GA tix to the Friday night show. Thank you ticket mojo gods !
As I entered the Greek Theater, a place where legendary concerts have gone on for decades, I found myself in awe at the sheer spectacle of the sold out stone bowl. You see, for me, Radiohead had always been enjoyed in dark isolation. Their disconnected melodies took root and kept me sane while my life slid further underground. Radiohead’s music echoed and embraced my horribly malnourished soul through some of the worst times.
So it almost took me aback to me see so many people congregated in Berkley last week to take in Radiohead. Even reading the pages and pages of reviews on this site, it makes me wonder, are there that many lonely and alienated people out there whose Radioheads music reaches? Are there so many people out there that feel the same isolation in our plugged in but tuned out world as me?
As for the show itself, Radiohead came through and played a night worth waiting for. All this talk that Thom’s angry outburst tainted the mood in Berkeley Friday night is rubbish. Anger is an energy and Radioheads music is fueled by a high grade bile that has been refined into premium artistic angst. Let Thom be angry. It’s probably good for him and it will surely benefit Radioheads audience of malcontents who savors the kind of bitterness that Yorke can spew.
As a band, Radiohead played to their strengths and kept their set list interesting with plenty of new music to soak up. 2007 is too long to wait. With Greek security being so lax that night, I wished I had been packing a DAT in the Hat. I hope some other internet connected fiend will share the good stuff with the rest of us soon.
My Radiohead appetite has been reawakened. It’ll be hard to keep my addiction under control again this time. Keeping my fingers crossed that some more ticket mojo will let me find tickets to the last show in LA on Friday. Wishfully thinking, the CD changer in the car is loaded and ready to roll. It’s been too long since I’ve had a reason to open it up and eat miles listening to Radiohead on the lost highway.
Everything has its place.

This was my 4th Radiohead show, and I must say it was my least favorite...still great, but my least favorite.
I prefer the uptempo songs because I like to move my body. This show was too much back and forth between the uptempo and the slower songs, which didn't flow well with me. I'd get moving for two or three songs, then would have to sit down and chill. I'm also not familiar with the new songs, so those were a passive listening experience for me.
The Greek was awesome, like always. The fog was surreal...because of the weather we'd been having, I almost thought it was a fog machine behind the stage (almost). I was sitting center stage, on the lawn and everyone around us were very cool.
The best thing for me was bringing my 16 year old nephew who is a pretty damn good little guitarist himself. He's more into metal, so I wanted him to experience Radiohead live as a growth experience. He really enjoyed the music, especially the new songs, which surprised me. While Deerhoof was playing he leaned over to me and said, "This is encouraging!" I said how so, and he replied, "if these guys can open for Radiohead then my band is going to be HUGE!"

Radiohead has been my favorite band since I was twelve years old (Im 18 now) and this was my first Radiohead show. I was never able to make it to previous shows for various reasons (protective parent, tight budget, etc.) I started waiting in line at 6:30 a.m. I got a spot at the gate right in front of Jonny. Too bad I had not had more then 4 hours of sleep in the previous 2 days and had not eaten more then a few chips all day wich caused me to faint a couple songs into the show (Ok there were additional contributions to me fainting...) I missed about a song and a half. Stupid me. A bizarre experience that was though. Luckily nobody noticed anything and I didn't lose my place :) The weather was foggy and sprinkling. It added a very beautiful and interesting touch to the whole atmosphere of the place. I noticed Thom getting angry during Idioteque/15 step, wich was rather cute. I personally didnt notice anything wrong with the songs. The show was amazing, It was the best day of my life until San Diego night two...wich stole the "best day of my life" award for a few reasons...

It was my first radiohead show, totally awesome. It was a long strange trip to get there, and i lost my place in line which was about as depressing and anythign can get cause i would have been way close to the front, but theres next time.
The technical difficultys were a bit of a bummer, but overall the performance was great. I was a little disappointed in the people sitting around me, they did a lot of criticizing ((as if they have any right, hah!!)) And it seemed as though
thom was a little turned off by the crowd as well. One of the strangest things by far was seeing the opening band, I worked a show for them in my home town at our local venue in merced, so it was off the wall to see them open up for radiohead.
tis all tis all, tell next time
