Absolutely Awesome! Started strong with Airbag and by the third song had hit a great stride that culminated with Fake Plastic and Everything in it's Right Place. It's pretty cool to hear thousands of people sing 'Gucci Little Piggy'. This band cannot and will not disappoint. The scenery around Griffith Park makes that venue so freakin awesome. I came from Texas to see them here. They never come to Dallas anyway, I had to see them in Houston 2 years ago. This was everything I hoped for and more. I went with my friend who has no idea about the band and he loved it. If those new songs are any indication that new record is going to be a rocker. Thanks so much fellas, see you maybe in Houston after the record comes out.

best show i've ever seen. set list was perfectly arranged and executed. what a closing to this tour. i'd like getting a taste of thom's sense of humor wittingly telling the audience to "shut up" during exit music (for a film).

Awesome show. The new songs are amazing, Bangers and mash especially. Myxamatosis was wicked. Radiohead never fails to impress. The Greek is an awesome venue.

http://workman.blogspot.com/2006/07/day-3-all-about-radiohead.html

So Radiohead played the last date of their North American tour tonight at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, and I was there with two friends.

The band hit the road to try out a batch of new songs they had written for their new album (due out next year--maybe?) Because of this, I was let to believe the show would be a stripped-down and fairly straight forward affair, as opposed to the heavily produced concerts they usually perform. Not so, and in a very good way. But more on that later.

The new songs were stunning. I don't have access to the set list (the cheat sheat I would have used at greenplastic.com hasn't been updated yet) and I don't know the names of the new songs but they were all uniformly excellent. They covered a range of styles. One had almost a salsa beat, while another was a quick (90 second?) burst of sound that was almost surf rock. They ended the show will a new ballad that was achingly beautiful.

Thom Yorke is releasing a solo album shortly. From what little I've heard of it, it sounds like it contains a lot of electronic noodling ala "Kid A" (don't get me wrong, I'll buy it and likely enjoy it, too). Perhaps that freed Yorke up to write this new batch of Radiohead songs in a style that's more wide open and rock influenced. I can't wait to hear the new album. If the songs performed tonight are any indication, it will be one of their best.

The old music held up well. "Paranoid Andriod" is probably the best song I have ever heard performed live. "True Love Waits" was given an eerie electronic remix on stage. "Fake Plastic Trees," brought the house down (which isn't easy, as the Greek is an outdoor venue). The quiet early passages of "Exit Music" had most of the crowd transfixed. There were a few yahoos in the audience who took the silence as an opportunity to shout lame things at the band, prompting Thom to politely say "shut up" between lines.

I went to the show desperately wanting to hear "Paranoid Android" and "No Surprises." They didn't play the second tune, but the show didn't seem incomplete to me. As a matter of fact, the best stuff tonight was the new stuff. At the end of the show, Thom said that the band had played a lot of new music, then added, "thanks for listening to them." All I could think was, "thanks for writing them."

just got back from radiohead at the greek. one really does step into a different dimension when experiencing this group live. establishing themselves as one of the most indisputably important and increasingly influential acts of the world today, the audience of the greek amphitheater got to experience what some previous tour attendees called a "religious experience" on greenplastic.com, a great fan website to the british band.
at 9:23, by my clock, the band took the stage with a ripping version of the ok computer opener, airbag. then, into another live-fan-favorite, a tour opener for the kid/amnesic shows, the national anthem.
after the an additional two drum sets were set up, the played (the boney king of nowhere). the first of a few songs was next in where ed o'brien and colin greenwood, guitarist/vocalist and bassist, respectively, encourage the audience to clap along.
then the first of a few gems, exit music [for a film]. gratefully, i got record this whole track on my camera - a shout out to my main sistah, lily, and bro-in-lawyer, eduardo, for presenting it to me for the anniversary of jesus's alleged birthday - boo-ya-kah-za!
thom announced the next one as a "new one." i don't what name of the new ones belongs to their corresponding song. then they played my iron lung. i got a good chunk of the outro to this song. it's a powerhouse live.
another gem this one a b-side, bid ideas (don't get any) originally known as (nude) or (nuet). but this version was of the whole band. not as delicate as other version's i've heard, but nice nonetheless. another new one which i describe as an ever-growing in pulse and volume crescendo.
then the chords of the guitars being tuned made it evident what the next song was, plus the tambourine in thom yorke's hand, i might be wrong. then another new song that i'd heard on youtube.com (because thom told the greenplastic.com website guy that the version of it they posted on youtube.com was good). the song's called all i need, and thom was referring to the chicago recorded show.
a wonderful surprise followed, complete with disco ball lighting, pyramid song. so beautiful, that song. and then judge, jury & executioner. awesome live and stayed true to it's synthesizer massive sound. then another fast one that ends with the line, "i got the poison!" abrupt and precise.
then the closer to the first set was a song from the bends that has the lines, "i used to fly like peter pan, all the children flew when i touched their hands! "we'll you gotta feel it in your..." (the song's name) "bones!" the guitars sound sharp like the album cut, but more raw - a good thing live.
they returned with another song that made me hyper-ventilate. this really is appreciated in a much different-but-just-as-good-a-way as the recoded version. like spinning plates is the song the my windows® media player has recorded as the most played of my windows® media files, and with good reason. a few remembered the next song was dedicated to the people in the trees by thom yorke the last time the quintet played the loz feliz outdoor woodsy venue. this time it wasn’t dedicated, but i bet that the people in the parking felt fake plastic trees’s energy. one of the defining moments of the show. i thought that i lost track of the songs because the next one i remember was paranoid android, but since yorke introduced it at “not that new one” I guess a new one was right before it. the aforementioned ok computer-staple was a great closer to the second set.
to return, thom announced that this would be the last one, but I knew otherwise because they needed a forget-me-not kinda closer. they played the new song house of cards to which the audience clapped long for in it’s entirety. and closed with bit of sampling, then a thom-on-rhodes only version of true love waits. exceptional and a dead-giver-away to the actual classic closer everything in its right place.
this band is (again, an idea expressed on the greenplastic.com gigography webblog) “an act that must be experienced in one’s lifetime.” and as meticulously thorough or painstaking shallow this review might be, it can not do the feeling of radiohead live.

the tickets out here were insane. for the friday show they were going from $800-$2k a pop. i think this would really make the guys sick, but whatever. i dutifully went and waited in line all day at the greek, just hoping to get tickets.

well, i got them. front row center. no lie.

the show itself was amazing. SO MANY new songs. they played climbing up the walls, which is my absolute favorite. there were a few moments where thom would look to the mixing board or to jonny and make a motion for something to be changed but i still thought it was awesome. how could i not? i was so close and so happy.

little asides--thom telling the audience 'oh, shut up' during quiet bits of tunes and things like that really made me smile.

fake plastic trees never sounded so sad to me as it did last night. i don't know why, maybe because it strikes me as such an LA kind of song. just painfully beautiful.

the lighting was amazing too. pyramid song began and suddenly the stage was underwater, that same sort of floating deep feeling coming from the lighting.

two encores, both long, sorry i don't have the setlist. it was one of the best days/nights of my life. thanks so much to the guys.

Love the new stuff, this show was so clean. you guys have truly mastered the art of performing live. I never know what to expect when radiohead is going to release something new. then once i hear it I am always left amazed by the way radiohead bends sound. Hope the album comes out soon, I am so glad to have been exposed to the new songs.

amazing.simply put. this was the fouth time i had seen them this week and this was by far the best. the way they ened with true love waits/everything in its right place was a real surprise. thom was the most speechy i have have ever seen him. i love that he didn't let the stupid LA crowd have their beloved creep. all i can say is paranoid android was the best song of their set tonight followed with exit music, even though those ignorant fools thought they were cool by being the idot that shouts "you fucking rock thom!". i'm pumped get to see them on the 24th of august in marley park, Ireland.

Amazing - yet again, the boys did not disappoint! I've seen them many many times and this was brilliant! glad they moved from the bowl to the greek - more intimate vibe! a few surprises in the way they mixed their songs together (especially the surprise of true love waits - wow!) and exit music - could almost hear a pin drop! Thom actually looked like he was enjoying himself and his dancing is A+ -- jonny was on fire! On to their new songs - strong jazz undertones on a lot of them, some of them subtle and soft, with some rock mixed in. bangers and mash, down is the new up and 15 step are instant classics! (now when can we get our hands on it guys!) more and more reasons why they truly are shaping the musical map of our generation!

Thank You guys for continuing to shake things up,for being steadfastly committed to not following any formula.

My evening started by walking toward the radiohead booth to get a poster as Thom walked out right in front of me to go rip the cords out of the speakers ware a booth was playing music in the main entrance, then he looked at me and said "my pleasure" That was a great way to start the night! The show was mind blowing, words cant describe! I cant wait for the new album! Down is the new up, a fantastic song. I saw the show the first night in berkely and the last night in L.A. both set lists were amazing!

Binoculars for Rent.

After being a long time Radiohead fan, this was my first show. They did not disappoint. Highlights of the night include: Myxmatosis, Idioteque, Bangers N Mash, and Exit Music (From a Film). I could not believe how quiet the crowd was during the into to exit music.

Great venue, great crowd, great setlist. Completely worth the cash I spent at one of the scum of the earth ticket brokers.

And those of you who saw the women renting binoculars. "Binoculars for RENT!"

I've seen these guys four times in the past seven days and I have to say, this show was the best of them. While they have been amazing at each venue and with each set list choice, tonight was special. The difference? It wasn't the venue. Assigned seating drove up the prices to the point of converting Radiohead lovers to disenchanted Radiohead refugees. Good news for the Flaming Lips and Deathcab for Cutie, I' sure. It wasn't the city. San Diego was charming with brilliant sunsets and Berkeley was mystical and magical and wonderful with it's ancient stadium seating and rolling fog. It wasn't the fans. By far people were more well behaved in San Diego. And even though some guy did an onstage driveby in Berkeley, by and large the crowd had the decency to let Thom sing without interruption during his sweet, sweet ballads. No, the difference was the band. As always, it was the music that won out.

Despite the stupid L.A. crowd (I live here, so I can say that), Thom Yorke maintained his composure. How difficult must it be to stay focused when, armed simply with a lone voice in front of six thousand people, some wanker in seat 1 row D on the Benches yells repeatedlyat the top of his lungs. He wasn't the only one, but he deserves to be singled out. Twit. This was the same guy who cheered for security when some real fans rushed out of the trees pre-concert. I'd venture to say that he's never had his salad days and is still sucking on Daddy's left teet. And to the guy who made it over the fance and blended in with the crowd...you are a Concert Ninja Master.

The first encore was probably the best mini set I've ever seen.
The most amazing rendition of Like Spinning Plates ever. I hadn't ever seen it live. Fake Plastic Trees was vintage. Honestly I hadn't recovered from Pyramid song followed by Spooks by that point.

True Love Waits following House of Cards was brilliant. House of Cards comes across as a lovely thank you note to their fans and a great closer to the american tour. Suppposedly that was it, but TLW and EIIRP were a treat. The last, as always, is a great way to leave the stage.

If no one has said so yet, thank you guys for All I Need, for all the new songs, which are so consistent with the rest of your repetoire. Mostly, just Thank You.

Went to the Greek hoping to get some tickets but it was not happen. Disappointed? Absolutely. But then I realized that the music was there, everywhere. It was a matter of finding a sweet spot, cupping your hands around your ears and simply listening. That's what I did and it was awesome. I wish I'd been able to see the lads on stage but the music was gift enough.

The new songs sounded awesome. They contain elements of older work but show a clear progression. Can't wait for the new album.

There were a few too many "scene vampires" simply trying to be at the "hot show." I wish they'd shut up and simply listen but the music overcame all of that... In a way, being outside made me focus on the music and that made for an amazing experience.

hello radiohead. The show was awesome, what I enjoyed the most was getting there early enough to hear you guys do the sound check. CAnnot wait till the album comes out. Hope radiohead will tour again soon. Getting tickets is a challenge for your shows. I have so many friends that are true listeners of your music that did not get to go. I wish the poop radio station K-crap didn't get to hog so many of the tickets. THAnks for stopping by Los angeles. Peace.

long time fan, have found some of the post kid a stuff a little obtuse. sat in the fourth row, center stage, saw leo and tobey and a bunch of other celebs. i think radiohead should be a real rock band -- a friday night in the big city should be a give the people what they want show. if you want to test a bunch of new material do a ten show stint in one or two cities. i would say half the show was as good as i've ever seen. they are airtight and have taken rock and roll to a new place. while this is true, live, not all of these slow songs are going to translate, particularly for 10,000 people. there was a hint of booing at the end, which i like. thom yorke is a little dylanesq on stage, he has the guitar players on a short list and scowled at them a few times for being too expansive. also, the two encore thing is completely cheesy. any good band plays a one song encore and then the lights go on. at their best they are one of the best. this was the first time i saw them and i did come away a little disappointed but had a great time.

Still reeling from catching the greatest rock band working today at one of the greatest venues on the planet. I've seen Radiohead three times before, but this was the best show I've ever seen anywhere, period. The scenery at the Greek is stunning, and any show here is a joy. The band would have sold out a venue ten times this size in minutes, but as you know, lucky for us, they were on this sort of quasi-mini-tour to work out some new stuff (although I would imagine three months on the road feels like rather a lot, whatever you call it).

The new stuff was stunning. I would review, but everyone else has covered it here. I will say it was very eerie from way back in section C to see the lights from many more camera phones than old-fashioned analog lighters during fake plastic trees.

How do you get pristine acoustics in an outdoor venue? Did the greeks just really know what they were doing with the whole amphitheatre design? Do the trees help? Does it mean all-day sound checks? It seemed to defy the laws of physics.

When Thom announced that the next song would be the last, a collective 'AWWWWWWW!' went up from the crowd. Congratulations, mate. You took an LA audience -- the most blasé, seen-it-all, unimpressed crowd in the world -- and reduced 'em to unguarded little kids.

I was coming home from work today, and I remembered some of the things I really liked during this show. When Thom was thanking Deerhoof, Jonny sampled the word and kept repeating it and repeating it and Thom just stood there watching him with a sort of smile on his face. That led into True Love Waits which then led to Everything In its Right Place. Thom's face when he was singing the "Just don't leave" part, was very touching.

Also when they all came out for the second encore Ed had his arm around Jonny and they were talking about something, and then Colin came up to Jonny like to ask him what, then Thom came out and put his hands on Jonny's shoulders and they discussed something very quickly.

I was in the back section for the previous night's show, and noticed Thom be kind of...well not as energetic as he was for this show. Myxomatosis he was going nuts, and I loved it! I got the most pictures of him then.

Videotape, 15 Step, All I Need, House of Cards, Down is the New Up and Spooks, fit in nicely with the classics and if this is any indication of the new album, I'm game! I sort of hoped they'd bust out some Eraser songs, but I know, that time will come. All in all, great show from the greatest band.

Radiohead COULD be a great band, IF the band decided they wanted to be a rock n roll band rather than some dirivitive spectacle whenever they rolled into some town. Playing the same songs every night, back-to-back nights?? Playing within the confines of the song's original structure night after night?? How tired can it get? Why is it then I continue to hear Yorke complain about rock's trap of superstardom, then he plays right into it. Too afraid to step out and rock on his term instead of what i'm sure is his managers term - don't kill the golden goose. You get lame crowds of people (in L.A., paying ridiculous amounts to scalpers to sit in the bleeders) to hear paranoid android again, and again, and again. I love the band and it's disappointing they don't run through more of their amazing catalogue and live it up with fresh lungs and let the fans experience something exciting. I for one don't have any interest in going to see them regurgitate their music night after night. hearing everything...everything in its right place close repeatedly is so unoriginal for a band this talented i take it as a slap in the face that they treat our musical intellect like a box of corn flakes with no milk or sugar. Keep up the amazing work in the studio because it's very uninviting at live shows. I would think everyone in the band would take comfort hearing 'that show sucked' - then you know you tried something different. Playing to your radio audience in a live venue plays into the entrapment of superstardom - by the way, which ones Pink?

GREAT SHOW! THE ENERGY WAS TERRIFIC! THEY SOUNDED PERFECT. MY GIRLFRIEND WHO HAS NEVER BEEN A BIG RADIOHEAD FAN JUST KEPT YELLING "THEY SOUND SO GOOD, THIS IS THE BEST CONCERT I'VE EVER BEEN TO!" THEY ROCKED OUT, THOM PLAYED THE GUITAR WITH HIS TEETH [ON ONE OF THE SONGS EARLY IN THE LINE UP], JONNY WITH A VIOLIN STICK [PYRAMID SONG], AND I LOVED "TRUE LOVE WAITS" OPENING INTO "EVERYTHING IN THE RIGHT PLACE" AWESOME! ONLY COMPLAINT, SAT IN HANDICAPPED SEATING,WHICH WAS CLOSE BUT ON THE ON THE SIDE, AND WE NEVER SAW COLIN, PHIL, OR THE LIGHTS. AND OF COURSE EVERYONE WISHES THEY COULD PLAY ALL THEIR SONGS, BUT I FIGURE THEY PLAY WHAT THEY LIKE TO PLAY. NO DISAPPOINTMENTS...

Utter Perfection!!! Flew all the way from ATL to c them and still having a hard time believing that I actually witnessed them live in front of me for the second time...(I saw them in Montreux Jazz Fest in July 2003 and that concert had a much better mood both the crowd and the band were so strongly connected and energized from A to Z)

A few notes:

Crowd was so fucking weird, mostly adults, (average above 35) completely unexpected, maybe that's what made them look not so very connected with us at the start, with Yorke being sarcastic about playing old songs instead of new songs...but later on they seemed much friendlier and relaxed...that's when the Yorke twisted dancing became manifest...Then again maybe they were just sooo tired...after all this was their last North American show...

Greek Theater was a very nice, intimate & classy venue (typical Radiohead style)...Highlights were Exit Music, There There, Fake Plastic Trees, Paranoid Android, Idioteque, Pyramid Song, I Might be Wrong, & True Love Waits entering into Everything in its Right Place (KICK ASS). The new songs were incredible...The best in my opinion was The National Anthem...

Biggest highlight were the light shows: UnFuckingBelievably Insane lights and projections

I can write forever about these Gods...so let's end it...

Much Luv & God Bless them

Please cum to Lebanon!!!

thursday night i spent hiking griffith park looking for a way in to the show. and i found it, walked out the front gate even, but I didn’t get in until the show was already over. so friday night i got there early, and I brough amberly, we climbed a hill, snuck through the staff parking lot. over the ten foot high barbed wire fence, up and down another hill, and took a seat 50 feet past the last row of seats, with a perfect view of the stage. then we heard some rumbling to the left. where they security or fans? is that a walky talky? it was! we ran. “airbag” coming through the woods.

it took five greek theater security guards to catch me. one grabbing my pant legs just as i was jumping the fence to safety. Then one of the big ones came up and ripped me off the tree i was on. huge gashes on my arm from that one, but he was pissed, as he had dove to catch me at the onset of the chase, unsuccessful he was, and with a hurt pride, he was happy to pin me to ground while i listened to “national anthem” and waited for the lapd to show up.

i was escorted out of the theatre, but walked right by my spot, where amberly was enjoying the show. i pretended my foot was stuck in some roots so i could check out a few seconds of “there there.”

they let us go pretty much scot free, except for the multitude of scraps, cuts and gashes, and we listened to the rest of the show from outside.

Man. take a deep breath. sanctimony kills.

radiohead is amazing. the show was amazing. i was with valerie who posted up top. we got front row center for face value in an unbelievable score that will probably never be repeated ever again. i love this band. if i was going insane, i would probably think that thom was sending radio signals to my brain or something. i would think that the front row score was a message. i would think that ... umm.. i better stop.

ok so people like myself tried to get into this show. i was ready 45 days before tickets went on sale. i tried so hard. i could not get two tickets. so like any 21st century souls i went to the internet. gasp. there they were. tickets. lots of them. no less than three times marked up. i hate to sound like all the whiners out there but why? ALL of the tickets gone yet so many available on the ebay? how is this? does ticketbastard have small "brokerage" companies to bring in the real profit?

anyway i am lucky and got in only becuase i know someone. afterparty passes and all. i loved the show and i love the music. please continue to rock and if you can find a way to let normal people get tickets... oh who am i kidding? ahh capitolism.

This seems a bit late to be reviewing this show, but I thought I would since there are reasons beheind it.
Radiohead tickets aren't easy to get a hold of, I went to Tower Records in Pasadena and figured that we could get there early and atcually get tickets. We did, but they ended up handing out numbers and selling the tickets in the order of which ever number you had, which meant I couldn't buy tickets for both nights there. I was lucky I got number 3.
Ofcourse I had to see them twice so I went home and later bought a seat on www.ticketliquidator.com. I ended up in the front of Section B for about a total of $260 (fuck service charges).
Thursday night's show was great but Friday's was even better. It was my 4th time seeing them, so I was pretty stoked. I sat next to a man by the name of Andy Bone. He had seen them on every tour multiple times, and he said that Friday night's show was the best he had ever seen. I consider myself lucky and so should you if you were at this show.

I'd have to say "Pyramid Song" was one of the most amazing thing's I have ever witnessed, so was "Follow Me Around" as well as "How To Dissappear Completely" (I totally broke down)

I'm done, I'll shut up.. but I'm telling you now the obsession never ends. Radiohead remains one of the greatest bands ever. (AND YES THEY ARE BETTER THEN MUSE)
