This was my first concert experience and a bit of a mixed bag. As the Pacific Coliseum quickly filled with an odd mix of long haired fubar-esque gen-xers and confused teenagers It became obvious that maybe this band hadn't yet established the right audience in Vancouver. As Spiritualized droaned on with their set of boring hippie-grunge an impatent audience of displaced metalica fans succeded in filling the entire venue with smoke and making it even harder for those already in bad seats to see the stage. Finally Radiohead appeared and began an incredible note for note rendition of something off OK Computer (it's been 5 years so I can't remember but I think it was airbag) only to inspire a moshing nightmare on the floor! Thom had to stop songs repeatedly to verbally assault the audience in the hopes that people would stop moshing and listen. Between security guards chasing half naked guys on acid and people talking and passing joints I can't say I had the greatest listening experience.
But this didn't stop me from wanting to see my favorite band live and I've since seen some incredible RH shows with more respectful audiences...
