I was thinking of making a poll of which Thom solo project would you rather want, AFP or his solo laptop arrangements, but being Atoms For Peace haven't really properly launched yet, that should wait. We really don't have a solid feel for AFP yet, being all we have are live versions of Judge, Jury, Executioner and some instrumentals.

So, which of these Eraser versions do you prefer?

This is actually a hard decision for me, but probably not for many, I'll break it down.

THE ERASER- Studio version shines over the AFP version.

ANALYSE- I prefer the From The Basement version over either, really.

THE CLOCK- Atoms For Peace version, hands down. It's much more intense and I love the effects used live.

BLACK SWAN- Atoms For Peace, I just love the synth in it.

SKIP DIVIDED- I really didn't get into this song until it was played with Atoms For Peace.

ATOMS FOR PEACE- A complete draw.

AND IT RAINED ALL NIGHT- Almost a draw but I have to say Atoms For Peace did it justice.

HARROWDOWN HILL- Studio version, for some reason this live doesn't do it for me as much.

CYMBAL RUSH- A strong effort live, but doesn't surpass the studio version.

THE HOLLOW EARTH- Atoms For Peace, almost a draw but this song is really good live.

FEELING PULLED APART BY HORSES- Has to be a draw, has to be.

My vote has to go to AFP live if this is a democracy, but just by a hair.

Yeah certain songs work better in the album, but I'd have to go with AFP because there's more of an energy presence.

Well, they're quite different, I always thought Analyse, Black Swan, and Cymbal Rush would have certainly become Radiohead songs down the line if Thom hadn't decided to do solo work. You should really give AFP a listen, you might be surprised.

And most people seemed to think the same way about the studio Eraser, it will lose. I'm interested how badly it will lose, though...

the live stuff is fun but definitely the eraser, and i hope thom chooses that as his jumping-off position for his next solo work. don't think i'd react that well to his next effort being 'that other band with flea in it'

I like The Eraser better than two Radiohead albums, I'll let you guess which ones.

The album is just really overproduced in spots but the title track, And it Rained All Night, Atoms for Peace, Skip Divided, Analyse... perfectly executed on the album. The only song I don't think is completely great is Harrowdown Hill just because his vocals and the melody on the verses are just awful. The rest have just been better with Atoms for Peace or solo.

Hmmm, this seems to be a popular opinion I have not been aware of until now.

And here I thought Atoms For Peace was a supergroup with the Leadsinger of Radiohead on vocals and guitar, the very fast bass player from Red Hot Chili Peppers, one of the most(if not the most) popular record producers in the world at the moment on keys, and two Italian percussionists creating quite a furious drum section.

Boy was I wrong? I guess they're not so super after all...
