also amnesiac is possibly the most dense and intriguing radiohead album. considering these are qualities that attract many people to radiohead's music in general it's not surprising that a lot of people favour amnesiac

yeah I've just been bursting my hemorrhoids trying to like songs like Pyramid Song and Like Spining Plates

Amnesiac has the variety of HTTT and the coherence of Kid A. It's an astounding album. I still think Kid A trumps it but Radiohead were on a serious roll when they made these albums.

For the most part it flows brilliantly, especially the first half, except for the inclusion of Morning Bell which is kinda jarring and still really sounds more like a Kid A track. Thats its only real flaw. The only b-side I think could genuinely be included seamlessly is Fog.

I disagree with regards to Morning Bell, recently I've gotten really into that track and I love the way it just dives straight into it. I'm not sure many of the bsides would have fit because they're too sweet sounding, like Fog, Worrywort and Cuttooth. Great songs but I can't see them working on an album as tense as Amnesiac

I like it on its own but its totally a sideshow to the rest of whats going on. Then again Fog would be doing the same thing only it could pull it off I reckon, between IMBW and Knives Out maybe. Any tension on Amnesiac is really measured, its rarely fraught even in its more energetic moments. To be honest I find it incredibly serene for the most part.

its not my favourite, my it really is an excellent album, every track gives a sense of tense, darkness and even creepyness in a cool way

That they removed Cuttooth (apparently because they were afraid they wouldn't be able to do it justice live) in favor of Hunting Bears is a tragedy. Still a great record, though.

Really?? No way would Cuttooth work on this record, totally out of kilter and even moreso than Morning Bell.

yeah more and more lately i tend to agree with this. even orgy and kinetic are kind of... i dunno, too ominous, amnesiac isn't really ominous despite all the trepidation it has.
