Jonny Greenwood Radiohead

It’s official: “These are My Twisted Words”

Jonny made an announcement on DAS releasing “These are My Twisted Words”:

So here’s a new song, called ‘These Are My Twisted Words’.

We’ve been recording for a while, and this was one of the first we finished.

We’re pretty proud of it.

There’s other stuff in various states of completion, but this is one we’ve been practicing, and which we’ll probably play at this summer’s concerts. Hope you like it.

Download the audio here or torrent here.

Included in the download is a txt file, a tiff image, and a pdf that reads: “this is an artwork file to accompany the audio file. we suggest you print these images out on 80gsm tracing paper or you printer will eat it as we discovered. you could put them in an order that pleases you.”

Oh, and Big ole heap of fail. The guy who purchased the domain, Reshad Bashir, has posted up a mp3 which isn’t Radiohead. It sounds more like some of the music he creates. Nice try.
UPDATE: looks like the mp3 on was just taken down.

What we know and don’t know about “These Are My Twisted Words”

We have listened to “These Are My Twisted Words” about 100 times since it was leaked out yesterday. It’s pretty amazing. As of now, there still hasn’t been a peep from the band so we thought we’d post what we know and don’t know.

The track, along with a nfo file, was first uploaded to the site yesterday by a user named “crza” who had never uploaded anything before in the year he’s been a member. Shortly after this was uploaded, a post was made to the message board at At Ease and from there it spread across the internet.

In the nfo file, “Wall of Ice” is referenced. This is also seen in the file name of the mp3 as “woi”. What does it mean? Is it the name of a forthcoming EP or album by Radiohead? Is it inspired by this web comic? Is it merely the name of the crew/clan/scene group/whatever you call them that the uploader crza belongs to?

The ripper is listed as “sca[GG]er” while “racy251” is credited as created the ascii art.

Also in the nfo file is a release date of August 17, 2009. What is going to happen, if anything, on this date is anyone’s guess. Maybe this is when “These Are My Twisted Words” was intended to be released? Or maybe there will be additional tracks on this day? Questions, questions…

People are speculating that this track is the one that will be in the new Twilight movie. As you may know, Thom is supposedly contributing a song to the soundtrack. While it’s possible (anything is possible!), we seriously doubt it. First off, this clearly sounds like a Radiohead song, not a Thom Yorke solo song. That’s obviously Phil drumming and Jonny playing guitar and the ambience screams Radiohead.

In the recent interview Thom gave The Believer, he mentioned that they have a “good plan” for future releases. It’s possible that this is part of that plan.

All in all, we can only speculate at the moment about what is happening. While it’s unlikely, this could still all be an elaborate hoax of some sort.

What are your feelings about the song? Do you like it? Feel free to comment or join the conversation at our message board, Mortigi Tempo.

New Radiohead song leaked?

Maybe so. It’s apparently called “These are My Twisted Words” and it’s definitely Thom singing. Someone made a mysterious post over at the At Ease message board today announcing the leak.

What do you think?

We have not received any confirmation that this is a legit track but it certainly sounds like it.

Included in the nfo file that was associated with the mp3 is this:

iiii i just wanted to reassure readers iiii
iiii that following representations iiii
iiii seeking confirmation iiii
iiii that before your very eyes iiii
iiii behind the wall of ice iiii
iiii that the box is not under threat iiii
iiii however they are set to remove iiii
iiii other boxes iiii
iiii in fact i have the list in front of me iiii
iiii i went to a briefing on their plans iiii
iiii and challenged them to tell me iiii
iiiii exactly what the cost would be iiiiiii
iiiiii iiiiiiii
iiiiiii they spoke in broad terms iiiiiiiiii
iiiiiiiiiii we’re looking for: talented puppeteers iiiiiiiiiii
iiiiiiiiii worms, disgruntled executives, sacked flies iiiiiiiiii
iiiiiiii genres: doomcore, folktronica, ukf iiiiiiii

Possible lyrics:

These are my twisted words
When I feel you still walking
I know I should not look down
But I’m so sick of just talking

When are you coming back?
I just can’t handle it
When are you coming back?
I just can’t handle it

When are you coming back?
I just can’t stand it
I just can’t handle it

Update: Also included in the nfo file is “…..2009-08-17.” Hmmmmm….. Here’s a pdf of the nfo file if you’re curious.

Update: We’ve have a new post with more info here.

Download “House of Cards” and “Last Flowers”

Thom singing at the Trade Justice vigil

At Ease has mp3s up of the two new songs performed by Thom Yorke last week at the Trade Justice vigil. There seems to be some confusion on the name of the second song, “Glass Flowers”. We are betting that this song is actually “Last Flowers“, which has been kicking around since the OK Computer sessions. It’s possible that the NME got the name wrong.

There also videos up of the performance here.

EMI: Take mp3s off

We received an email from Leslie, the webmaster of, who was recently contacted by IFPI and was ordered to take down all of the mp3 files that were hosted on the site. IFPI says that this was a request by EMI and not Radiohead. It is doubtful that Radiohead even know what’s going on.

It’s one thing to host recorded studio mp3s on your site, but Leslie only had live Radiohead mp3s. Members of Radiohead have spoken out in the past about downloading mp3s, and it would appear that they have no problem with live mp3 file-sharing. Since EMI are copyright owners of the songs, they have the final say, unfortunately.
